According to a report by Brady Henderson at ESPN, the King County Prosecutor’s Office has decided not to press charges against Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith stemming from his arrest in January 2022 on suspicion of DUI.
Smith was arrested the night after (2:10 a.m.) the team’s final game of the season against the Cardinals.
The police report stated Smith was “agitated” during his encounter with law enforcement and had been driving 96 mph in a 60 mph zone.
Not long after, Smith shared a message on Twitter asking for fans to hold back on judging him.
Being arrested brings a taint onto the reputation that is impossible to undo, no matter what really happened.
I’m asking all of you to hold back on judging me the same as you would do for a friend or family member.
I’ll have more to say down the road
& ask that you bare with me.— Geno (@GenoSmith3) January 11, 2022
We will update this story with any further statements from Smith on the matter.
