Kernel girls soccer improves to 7-0 on the season

Sep. 4—BOX ELDER, S.D. — The Mitchell High School girls soccer team improved to 7-0 on the season with a 7-0 victory on Saturday on the road at Douglas/Rapid City Christian/New Underwood.

Ranked No. 2 in the most recent Class AA girls coaches poll, Mia Mullenmeister scored three goals, bringing Mullenmeister's goal total for the year to 20, while Taryn Thomas had two goals and two assists. Kenzi Kayl tallied a goal and an assist and eighth-grader Isabella Husmann added an assist.

Tenley Peterson posted another clean sheet, Mitchell's fourth of the season. For the year, the Kernels have outscored their opponents 31-6.

Mitchell plays at Watertown at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5 before returning home to host Huron on Thursday, Sept. 7.

BOX ELDER, S.D. — Powered by four first-half goals, Douglas/Rapid City Christian/New Underwood earned a 6-0 win over Mitchell on Saturday in boys soccer action.

The Kernels (1-4-1) will take on Watertown at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5 on the road.
