Ken de la Bastide: Speedway announces varied 2024 schedule

Dec. 12—After a one-year absence, the JEGS All Star Tour is returning to Anderson Speedway during the 2024 season.

The 2024 racing series will feature three appearances by the 500 Sprint Car Tour and Kenyon Midget Series. The Little 500 in May will be the premier event for the sprint car teams.

The schedule includes two 150-lap Street Stock events and the return of the 200-lap event for the Late Models.

The Speedway's season opens March 30 with the first appearance of the local Modified division in action.

The month of April opens with the 500 Sprint Car Tour in action for the 24th running of the Glen Niebel Classic with the USSA Kenyon Midgets making their first appearance with the Thunder Roadsters.

The Modifieds will compete in a 100-lap feature April 20, and the month closes with the Champion Racing Association Sportsman Late Models, Street Stocks and the Vore's Compact Touring Series on the racing card April 27.

The JEGS All Stars will be in Anderson on May 4 along with the Ford and Legends Divisions.

The month of May will be again highlighted by the 76th running of the Little 500 on May 25 with pole day set for May 23 and Bump Day on May 24.

The Ohio Wheelman Series for Street Stocks returns June 8 with the CRA Street Stock 150 set for June 29.

July opens with Figure-8 Madness on July 4 with the 500 Sprint Car Tour returning July 13 for the third annual Gene Nolen Classic with the Kenyon Midgets.

The 58th running of the Redbud 400 for the ASA Stars National Tour is set for July 20, and the late models return for a 200-lap feature July 27.

August opens with the running of the 75th annual National Crown for the Ford Division on Aug. 3 with the second CRA Street Stock 150-lap feature set for Aug. 10 with the month closing out Aug. 31 for the Night of Thrills.

The Vores Compact Touring Series returns Sept. 14 for a 100-lap feature and the Midwest Modified Tour returns Sept. 28 with a 50-lap feature for the Ford Division.

The 500 Sprint Car Tour makes a final visit Oct. 5 for the ninth Tony Elliott Classic and the season championship race for the Kenyon Midgets.

OTHER RACING NEWS

Trey Osborne, who had a stellar career with the Kenyon Midget Series, will compete for rookie of the year honors in two USAC series next year.

Osborne will compete for the Sprint Car and Silver Crown rookie honors.

Davey Hamilton Jr., a regular competitor at the Little 500, will compete full-time with the USAC Silver Crown series next year.
