MATT HARMON: Ke'Shawn Vaughn becomes the biggest winner here on day 2 in the NFL draft as he becomes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers third round pick. Now, this was one of the teams, if not the most needy teams, at the running back position because Ronald Jones-- he ain't it. Dare Ogunbowale, or whatever-- that was going to be their pass catching back. I don't think so.
Vaughn is a capable pass catcher. More importantly for a guy like Tom Brady, he's stout and can hit you hard in pass protection. If he rounds out that skill, I think Brady is going to love having him on the field. And as a runner, love the way he's decisive and physical as a zone runner. I think that is-- again, it's going to fit perfectly in this offense.
And really, he's somebody that I think shined despite having a bad offensive line at Vanderbilt. And that is a really important thing too because Tampa Bay's made some additions here-- no doubt. But they could still be a sub-par offensive line here in his first season. Expect him to be a very big riser post-NFL draft in all fantasy rankings simply because of this landing spot.
