Journal Sentinel staff predictions for the Wisconsin Badgers' game vs. Nebraska

Our Wisconsin football coverage team predicts the outcome of the Badgers' game vs. Nebraska on Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium.

Jeff Potrykus

Both teams are struggling to find the end zone in league play. UW comes in at 18.1 points per game, No. 10 in the league. Nebraska is at 16.0, No. 14 in the league. Nebraska’s defense is stingier, but the Cornhuskers turn the ball over at an alarming rate (minus-14 margin). If UW players play with passion, they’ll be able to grind out a victory. Wisconsin 13, Nebraska 7

If insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, then call me crazy. The Badgers proved me wrong the last two weeks and yet here I am once again picking them to win. Why? I don’t have a great reason other than that they’re due to play well and know they need a win to become bowl eligible. It will be easier to get that win at home than at Minnesota next week. Wisconsin 17, Nebraska 13

"Freedom Trophy" is just another word for nothing left to lose. Though it's hard to muster confidence in Wisconsin after the past few games, I'll draw a little optimism from the desperation of the moment and the state of Nebraska's injured starting quarterback. Wisconsin 17, Nebraska 14
