Josh Downs named preseason All-American by CBS Sports
Another day and another preseason honor for UNC wide receiver Josh Downs. Earlier this week, CBS Sports released their preseason All-American teams for the 2022 season and while Downs wasn’t a first-team selection, he did earn a spot.
The UNC receiver was named to the second team on the list and is the only Tar Heel to make the cut.
Downs is entering his third year with the program and is coming off a big breakout season in 2021. He set program records and established himself as the go-to guy in the Tar Heels offense. Downs should have that role again here in 2022 as he looks to replicate success and more.
This offseason, Downs has racked up the honors for the Tar Heels being named to multiple watch lists as well as All-American teams. He’s also been labeled a prospect that could hear his name called in the first round of April’s 2023 NFL draft.
