Johnson City sophomore Zubayr Griffin heads Section 4 all-state selections

Class A fourth-teamer Zubayr Griffin of Johnson City leads Section 4 selections on Class AA and A all-state boys basketball teams as chosen by the New York State Sports Writers Association.

A sophomore who averaged 24.7 points per game, Griffin last month was recognized as Greater Binghamton Elite 15 Player of the Year. He contributed 6.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.2 steals per game for the Wildcats. His scoring high, 37 points, came in late-January against Ithaca.

Next-best billing granted a Section 4 athlete belongs to Andrew Erickson, Seton Catholic Central junior who scored 23.8 points per game. He is a member of the Class A seventh team.

Elmira junior Chris Woodard is a 12^th-team member in Class AA, tops in Section 4.

All-state teams in Classes B, C and D were released last week.
