Joel Embiid shuts down notion Brett Brown should be fired: 'Bulls---. He's done a fantastic job'

Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid had strong words for anyone questioning his coach. Embiid defending Brett Brown on Monday, punching back at the notion Brown could be fired and saying the coach has done “a fantastic job,” according to ESPN.

Though he led the 76ers to the Eastern Conference semifinals, Brown has come under fire for not taking the team farther. Prior to the start of the postseason, 76ers general manager Josh Harris stated he expected the team to reach the Finals.

That didn’t happen. The 76ers took the Toronto Raptors to Game 7, but Kawhi Leonard hit a last-second buzzer-beater to send the 76ers home early. Before the two teams played Sunday, there was a report the 76ers would get rid of Brown if Philly lost Game 7.

The 25-year-old Embiid fought back against the notion Brown should be fired following the team’s disappointing performance. He called it “bulls---,” according to ESPN.

Embiid continued to defend Brown, putting the Game 7 loss on the players.

“At the end of the day, it comes down to the players. I don't think he should have anything to worry about. He's an amazing coach, a better person. ... If there was someone to blame, I mean, put it all on me.”

Embiid led the 76ers with 21 points in Game 7.

The 76ers’ center was not the only player to endorse Brown. JJ Redick said he believes Brown has been “remarkable” for the organization.

Brown took over during the bleakest part of the 76ers’ rebuild. He went just 75-253 in his first four seasons with the team.

Over the past two years, Brown has gone 103-61. The 76ers lost in the Conference Semifinals in each of the past two seasons.
