Anyone with a heartbeat and a set of eyes knows just how hard it is to deny the request of a sweet ol’ lady.

The San Jose Sharks — just like the Maple Leafs, Islanders, Lightning, Bruins and Stars — are firmly focused on landing arguably the biggest pending free agent in modern NHL history. The team made its pitch to John Tavares at the offices of his agency, CAA, on Tuesday, and although she wasn’t part of the contingent on hand to present their case to JT, Joe Pavelski’s grandmother made her recruiting prowess known from afar.

That’s right, Mary Ann Pavelski, who is, according to her Twitter bio, a “Mother of 8, Grandmother of 18. Great Grandmother of 8, and hockey fan,” is assisting the Sharks brass in its efforts to secure the franchise free-agent centre, and why not?

Sure the Islanders may have Tavares’ loyalty, Toronto may he his hometown, and the Lightning and Stars can offer those lucrative tax breaks. But have you ever tried to say “No” to a loving, selfless grandma before?

Yeah, that’s what I thought.
