Joe Burrow Fantasy Football

Yahoo Sports's Andy Behrens discusses the first pick of the NFL Draft.

ANDY BEHRENS: In the absolute least surprising news that will come out of the 2020 draft, Joe Burrow goes number one overall to the Cincinnati Bengals. Of course, we knew this was going to happen. Can he make a fantasy splash? That is the question.

Now it's extremely rare for any rookie quarterback to make any sort of significant fantasy impact. Kyler Murray did it last year. That's promising.

It is also very rare, however, for a first overall selection at the quarterback position to come into a situation that is this ripe for fantasy purposes. Joe Burrow's going to have AJ Green at his disposal. He's still a borderline wide receiver one when healthy. He is healthy right now.

He's got Tyler Boyd. He's no worse than a wide receiver three, a talented pass catcher in his own right. He's got speed demon, John Ross, on the roster. He's got Joe Mixon, an excellent receiving option out of the backfield, Gio Bernard behind him.

[? And you ?] look at the offensive line, it wasn't great last year. But this team has last season's first round selection, Jonah Williams, coming back to anchor that line. There's a chance this is going to be a very good situation for Burrow. I think there's a path for him to throw for 3,800, maybe 4,000 yards. Maybe it's 27, 28 touchdowns, and that is an ownable fantasy season.
