Jimmie Johnson to run throwback Lowe's scheme at Homestead
Jimmie Johnson’s car at Homestead will look a lot like his car did in 2002.
Lowe’s announced Wednesday that Johnson would drive a car that has a similar paint scheme to the one his car had during his rookie season. The home improvement company is leaving NASCAR at the end of the 2018 season.
What better way to finish this 18 year adventure than where it all started. This scheme was what Jimmie drove while making a name for himself. His rookie season, his first win, the iconic yellow numbers. pic.twitter.com/Y8q7sBauFT

Lowe’s has been Johnson’s sponsor throughout his entire career. The seven-time champion has never been sponsored by a company other than Lowe’s. Until 2019. The store announced this spring that it wouldn’t be returning to Hendrick Motorsports and would be leaving NASCAR at the end of the season.
No 2019 sponsor or sponsors have been announced for Johnson. He and crew chief Chad Knaus are signed through 2020 with Hendrick.
