Jim Boeheim: 'I gave my retirement speech on the court last Saturday'

The Syracuse coach spoke on Wednesday following his team's loss in the ACC tournament, hours before the school announced that he will be retiring after 47 seasons.

JIM BOEHEIM: I--I think you missed it. I gave my retirement speech on the court last Saturday, and I gave it in the press conference afterwards. And nobody, except Will-- William Payne, figured it out.

[LAUGHTER]

- So-- so are you-- are you saying right now that you're-- you--you're-- you're gonna retire?

JIM BOEHEIM: This is up to the university.

- You--you wanna come back?

JIM BOEHEIM: I didn't say that.

[LAUGHTER]

- Oh, OK. But-- so what are you saying? You're not saying you're retiring, but you're not saying--

JIM BOEHEIM: I think I just said it. I don't know?

- So you don't know, OK.

JIM BOEHEIM: I said this is up to the university.

- And you-- you're not sure whether you're-- when will you-- when will-- how will you make a determination about when you will come back?

JIM BOEHEIM: You're talking to the wrong guy.
