Jets reportedly bringing in four-time Pro Bowl RB Dalvin Cook for a visit this weekend

The Jets continue to be the focal point of the NFL offseason. After trading for future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers in late April, they don't appear to be done adding to this star-studded roster.

Rich Cimini of ESPN reported Thursday morning that free-agent running back Dalvin Cook will be in New York later Thursday evening and will be meeting with Jets brass in person Friday and into the weekend.

Cook was released from the Minnesota Vikings on June 9, and despite being linked to other teams in the division in the Dolphins and Patriots, he's yet to take an official visit with any other team this offseason until now.

The four-time Pro Bowler would be a great compliment to an already talented running back room. While the Jets invested a high second-round pick (36th overall) in RB Breece Hall last season, the organization is likely to work him back slowly into the offense as he's currently on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after he tore his ACL against the Broncos last October.

Despite averaging a career-low 4.4 yards per carry in 2022, Cook played in a career-high 17 games and rushed for 1,100-plus yards for the fourth consecutive year. The Florida State product could be a huge help to Rodgers in the passing game as he's recorded 34 or more catches and 200-plus receiving yards in five straight seasons.

In a press conference last week, Jets head coach Robert Saleh said there was potential interest in Cook. "Obviously, you never want to say no to a great player. I’ll leave [GM] Joe [Douglas] to that one. I know there’s a lot of contractual stuff that goes with it. But he is a good one," Saleh said.

With the Jets all in on a win-now mentality, Cook could be a vital piece to this offense, especially with Hall not likely 100 percent heading into the regular season. When the Vikings and Jets met in Week 13 last season, Cook rushed for 88 yards on 20 carries and scored his seventh rushing touchdown of the season.
