Jerome Williams pegged with tough-luck loss

Phillies pitcher Jerome Williams pitched well but was pegged with a tough-luck loss Monday night against the Padres in San Diego, dropping to 5-7 on the year. He allowed one unearned run on three hits and two walks while striking out six over 7 2/3 innings of a 1-0 defeat.

Over his last three starts covering 17 2/3 innings, Williams has allowed eight earned runs. He owns a 5.03 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP over 102 innings of work. His next start will come Saturday at Oakland.
