Jays get four named to 2023 NDHSAA All-State Soccer Team
Nov. 4—JAMESTOWN — The announcement of the 2023 All-State Soccer team came as a surprise to Iddi Ramadhani.
"I was not even aware that All-State was really a thing, but when I found out I was very proud of how far I've come," Ramadhani, a junior at Jamestown High School, said. "I think that (Head coach) Brandi (Harty) helped me with this accomplishment so much by making me feel very welcome to the team and always making me work my hardest and I couldn't have done it without any of my teammates."
Ramadhani along with his teammates Brady Harty, Connor Traut and Grant Lunde were named to the 2023 All-State Soccer team last week. Brandi Harty was named the NDHSCA SUBWAY Coach of the Year. Coach Harty helped lead the Blue Jays to a fourth-place finish at the 2023 state tourney on Oct. 14. It was the first time ever the Blue Jays had ever placed at the state tournament.
"Before the season started getting All-State was a goal, but once the season started I forgot about it because I was so focused on our team," Brady Harty said. "My teammates get the credit because they make me better every day in practice and I wouldn't be able to perform as well as I do without them."
Harty was an all-state selection last year as well. The junior midfielder was named to the second-team, all-state team. Traut and Ramadhani were named to this season's first-team, all-state team.
"When I first moved here two years ago I just knew that I really wanted to play soccer and when I went out for the team and really loved all of the coaches and my teammates and was welcomed to the varsity team," Ramadhani said.
Ramadhani moved to Jamestown from California in February of 2022. He has started for the Blue Jays' varsity squad the past two seasons. The junior finished out the 2023 regular season with seven goals and six assists for 13 points.
Through the regular season, Traut was the WDA's third-leading scorer this season with nine goals and five assists for 14 total points. The senior has signed to play collegiate-level soccer at the University of Jamestown.
Harty netted seven goals and dished out five assists for 12 points. Harty netted the Jays' lone goal in the WDA championship tilt back on Oct. 7.
Lunde was a first-time all-state selection. The junior pitched six shutouts. He faced 87 total shots and made 77 saves.
"Connor and Brady work very hard in and out of season and on and off the field, and it shows," Ramadhani said. "Without Grant, we would not have won any games, he really saved us in many games. Next year we are winning State."
