Jason McCourty trolls Kansas City at 2023 NFL Draft: 'Tennessee has the best barbecue'

Jason McCourty trolled Kansas City before he announced the Tennessee Titans would select Tyjae Spears in the 2023 NFL Draft on Friday.

Why? Because of barbecue.

McCourty appeared on stage wearing a Houston Oilers jacket, recalled his time in the league and reflected on memories at Arrowhead Stadium. While he was in the spotlight, however, he shared his brash opinion on which state has the best barbecue.

"Tennessee has best barbecue in the nation," McCourty exclaimed, followed by loud boo's from the Kansas City live audience.

He apologized to the fans who clearly didn't agree, and took back the controversial statement.

"I'm sorry! I take it back," McCourty said in jest, "I didn't mean to offend anybody."

McCourty was drafted by the Titans in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft and spent seven seasons in Tennessee before he signed a two-year contract with the Cleveland Browns.

In addition to Spears, the Titans also selected quarterback Will Levis in the second round on Friday night. The fourth and fifth rounds continue through the weekend, and the draft resumes on Saturday at 12 p.m. (ESPN).
