Jason Day, a 13-time PGA Tour champion who returned to the winner’s circle for the first time in five seasons this year, and U.S. Ryder Cup member Sam Burns are among the latest commitments to The American Express PGA Tour event in La Quinta in January.

Also among the newest commitments to the tournament are U.S. Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson, tour veteran Billy Horschel, rising Australian star Min Woo Lee and Kevin Kisner, who was just named an analyst for early season tournaments for NBC.

With Day, ranked 19th in the Official World Golf Rankings, The American Express now has commitments from six of the top 20 players in the world, with Burns ranked 22nd. Already in the field are world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, No. 5 Patrick Cantlay, No. 6 Xander Schauffele, No. 11 Tom Kim and No. 20 Tony Finau.

Day, the 2015 PGA Championship winner, had not won a tournament on the PGA Tour since 2018 before winning the AT&T Byron Nelson tournament in May. Day is known to spend much of his winter in the Coachella Valley preparing for each new season.

Burns, a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, was a captain’s pick for the 2023 U.S. Ryder Cup team after representing the United States in the 2022 Presidents Cup.

Lee, 33rd in the latest world rankings, comes into the new season as one of the hottest players in the world, having won a pair of late-season events on the DP World Tour. Lee has five professional wins, but is looking for his first win on the PGA Tour.

Kisner is a four-time PGA Tour winner and was recently announced as the NBC golf analyst for the Sentry Tournament of Champions and the Waste Management Phoenix Open for NBC after the departure of analyst Paul Azinger.

Johnson, who led the U.S. Ryder Cup team in 2023, is a 12-time PGA Tour winner including wins at the 2007 Masters and the 2015 British Open.

The American Express tournament will be played Jan. 18-21 at three desert courses, the Stadium Course and Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West and La Quinta Country Club.
