CHRIS CRAWFORD: In a year where prospects have disappointed left and right, there have been some young players who have surprised in a good way. And one of those players is Jake Fraley for the Mariners. After reaching in all four plate appearances on Monday in Seattle's win over Minnesota, Fraley is not just hitting .275, he's getting on base at an outstanding .493 clip, with a 549 slugging percentage in 73 plate appearances.

Now that's a small sample to be sure, but it's large enough to start talking about how real it is. So let's do that. Fraley does have a bit of a prospect pedigree. He was drafted with the 77th pick out of LSU in 2016. And he ranked relatively high in the Tampa Bay system before being traded in the Mike Zunino in 2018.

The metrics suggest a bit of luck here, but you have to have a little bit of luck to get on base nearly 50% of the time. And he's hitting the ball hard and showing off elite selectivity, with a 28.8% walk rate.

Now if someone offers you something from Fraley, by all means, take it. But for now, it's not crazy to have Fraley your starting lineup in most [? formats. ?] Ride the hot streak.
