Cincinnati Bengals set initial roster. Here are all the players released
Update: The Cincinnati Bengals cut their roster to 53 players at the 4 p.m. deadline Tuesday. The team's first official depth chart of the year will be released before the Sept. 9 opener at the Cleveland Browns.
The Bengals cut La Salle and Ohio State product Drue Chrisman in favor of rookie Brad Robbins as the team's punter, according to Adam Schefter.
Chrisman missed the first part of training camp with an undisclosed injury. The Bengals drafted Robbins, a Michigan product, in the sixth round of this year's NFL Draft.
The Bengals' backup quarterback competition was won by Jake Browning, as first reported by Pro Football Network's Jay Morrison.
Trevor Siemian and Reid Sinnett competed with Browning during training camp and in the preseason for the backup role behind Joe Burrow. Sinnett also was cut.
Burrow has yet to participate in practice since suffering a calf injury on July 27. Burrow went through his pregame warmup before the Bengals' preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers, but hasn't been seen throwing publicly since.
Veteran offensive tackle La'el Collins will start the year on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.
