Outside of a couple of depth spots, there are very few surprises on the team's initial depth chart.

Here are a few observations worth noting from the team's first unofficial depth chart of the preseason:

  • Jaguars rookie running back Tank Bigsby is listed as the backup RB to Travis Etienne. Bigsby has stood out during camp due to his explosiveness, speed and agility. He recently ran 70 yards for a touchdown during the team's first live practice period.

  • The receiver position beyond the first five players (Chrisitan Kirk, Calvin Ridley, Zay Jones, Jamal Agnew and rookie Parker Washington) will be interesting to sort out. Currently, Kevin Austin and Tim Jones appear to have the leg up on the remainder if the team opts to keep six receivers.

  • Guard Tyler Shatley remains out as does Ben Bartch, who was placed on the team's active/PUP list. In their place is fourth-year guard Blake Hance.

  • Second-year cornerbacks Montaric Brown and Gregory Junior are listed as primary backups to Tyson Campbell and Tre Herndon, respectively. Junior has worked primarily out of the slot during training camp.

  • Rookie outside linebacker Yasair Abdullah is listed as the team's primary backup to starting OLB Josh Allen. Backup OLB Jordan Smith is listed behind Abdullah.

  • Rookie fullback/tight end Derek Parish is listed as the backup to second-year player Gerrit Prince on the team's tight end portion of the depth chart. Second-round rookie TE Brenton Strange is listed behind third-year player Luke Farrell, who is the team's primary 'Y' or blocking TE.
