Jaguars’ Doug Pederson compares Trevor Lawrence to Brett Favre

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson told Brett Favre on Tuesday that second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence reminds him of Favre in one key way: both passers are cool as cucumbers.

In an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio with host Bruce Murray and the Hall of Famer, Pederson raved about the composure of his 22-year-old quarterback.

“There’s been some turmoil and [coaching] turnover with him, but he’s a mature, young individual. Nothing really fazes him,” Pederson told Favre. “Honestly, Brett, he reminds me of you in that way. Nothing really fazed you when things got a little sideways, you were always the same yesterday and today. That’s the way Trevor is.

“Trevor doesn’t get too high, doesn’t get too low, and I think that’s a great quality to have in a quarterback.”

Favre, 52, played 20 seasons in the NFL, but didn’t see much action in his rookie season with the Atlanta Falcons. After his first year, he was traded to the Green Bay Packers and Favre finished his first season as a starter with a trip to the Pro Bowl.

Lawrence finished his rookie season with 12 touchdown passes and an NFL-most 17 interceptions.
