Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville Jaguars will look to earn a statement win when they take a trip to Washington to take on Ron Rivera and the Commanders.

The Jaguars return former No. 1 overall pick Lawrence, who quarterbacks an offense that added wide receiver Christian Kirk and other pieces this offseason. Meanwhile, the Commanders turn to Carson Wentz to cure their recent quarterback woes.

With Carson Wentz on his third team in as many seasons and with inconsistencies at each stop, I’m just not confident in him as a viable starter at this point. On the other side, I’m expecting the Jaguars to come out energized and motivated with Doug Pederson, who presents a massive upgrade at coach, especially for Trevor Lawrence and that offense.

Trevor Lawrence and the retooled Jaguars are going to benefit the most this season from the new stability they have with Doug Pederson replacing Urban Meyer at coach. So much so, that I’m taking them on the road to win Week 1 against new QB Carson Wentz and Washington.
