Report: Ivica Zubac agrees to four-year deal with Los Angeles Clippers

Ivica Zubac reached a four-year, $28 million deal to return to the Los Angeles Clippers next season.

After joining the Clippers midway through the year last season, Ivica Zubac is staying in Los Angeles.

The restricted free agent agreed to a four-year, $28 million deal to stay with the Clippers on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 22-year-old will join the newly bolstered roster in Los Angeles, headlined by former Raptors star Kawhi Leonard and Thunder star Paul George, both of whom joined the organization late on Friday night.

Zubac was traded from the Lakers to the Clippers with Michael Beasley in February, though Beasley was immediately waived. He was thrown into the starting lineup right off the bat, and averaged 9.4 points and 7.7 rebounds in 26 games while helping the Clippers make a playoff push.

Zubac struggled in the first round of the postseason, however. He averaged just five points and 5.5 rebounds over four games in their opening-round series against the Golden State Warriors. He did have a dominant performance in Game 3 of that series, however, dropping 18 points and 15 rebounds in just 17 minutes.

Despite his postseason struggles, however, Zubac should be welcome in the Clippers’ staring lineup with Leonard and George this fall.
