Isabella Johnson, a Providence Christian junior, shoots par on first day at U.S. Women's Amateur

Providence Christian junior golfer Isabella Johnson had a tough second day at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship tourney in Los Angeles Tuesday.
After shooting an even par in the first round, Johnson shot a 6-over 76 on Tuesday, failing to make the cut for the final two rounds.

Johnson finished with an even-par 70 after the first 18 holes, which has her tied for 19th out of the more than 150 golfers in the USGA-sanctioned tournament, which is being played at Bel-Air Country Club.
Caroline Canales, a sophomore at UCLA, and Briana Chacon, who recently finished her senior year at Oregon, are currently tied atop the leaderboard at 4-under (66).
Johnson was the DNJ's all-area girls golfer of the year in 2022 after she helped lead the Lady Lions to their second straight DII-A team title, beating second-place BGA by 10 strokes.

Johnson finished third in last year's state tourney, her third straight top-5 finish. She had a 36.1 nine-hole average for the 2022 season.
