Irina Shayk takes the lingerie trend to a new extreme in completely see-through dress
Irina Shayk has been absolutely *owning* the red carpet at this year's Cannes Film Festival – and can we just say that with all of the world's biggest stars also in attendance and pulling out all the stops in the style stakes, that is no mean feat.
In the space of just a few days, the 37-year-old model has attended the Festival's glitzy film premieres in everything from a sheer, plunging midnight-blue gown by Giorgio Armani to *that* super-edgy leather crop top and skirt co-ord designed by Mowalola, all with a serious smattering of diamonds, of course. Even her "off-duty casual" looks have been as chic as ever (who else could look this good wearing a tweed mini dress with socks and trainers?!).
But Irina saved her most epic – and daring – look for last, as she attended the British Vogue x Chopard party in what can only be described as the "underwear as outerwear" trend on steroids. Prepare to get obsessed...
It's the lewk to end all lewks, if you ask us: sheer, monogrammed and *teeny* Gucci lingerie paired with a see-through, gemstone-encrusted slip dress, opera gloves, diamond rings, stockings, stilettos, black-out sunnies and bold red lips to boot. It doesn't get much better than that.
Visible underwear has been a huge trend of late, spotted on the likes of Ashley Graham, Hailey Bieber and Dua Lipa as well as on the catwalks at Miu Miu, Bottega Veneta and Jacquemus. But even so, Irina's full Gucci look is one of the most fabulously extreme we've seen to date – and her own additions of sheer opera gloves, stockings, diamond rings and stilettos gave the outfit some *serious* femme fatale vibes. Just look at those details!
Even the addition of a black blazer later in the evening couldn't detract from the look's wow factor. And that's really saying something.
Luckily for us, it seems Irina's having a bit of a visible lingerie love-in at the moment. Earlier in the same day, the model attended a Magnum party in Cannes wearing a powder pink skirt suit by Versace – with the jacket left open to reveal a contrasting black structured bra.
So, if her last two outfits are anything to go by, we can certainly expect some more daring lingerie looks from Irina verrrrry soon. We can't wait to see what extreme she takes it to next...
