Iowa State men's basketball cruises to second Bahamas win

Iowa State continued its ballroom dominance Monday with a 78-52 men's basketball victory over BC Zalgiris Kaunas as part of the Cyclones’ foreign tour in the Bahamas.

“Really proud of the way our guys started the game,” Iowa State coach T.J. Otzelberger said in a statement released by the school. “We knew this team would be physical based on their first two games here this week. It’s always our goal to be the more aggressive team.”

Iowa State, playing at The Atlantis resort where it participated in the Battle 4 Atlantis five years ago, got 14 points from senior Tre King while UNLV transfer Keshon Gilbert had 12 points. Tamin Lipsey also tallied 12 points.

Demarion Watson had five rebounds while Jackson Paveletzke had five assists.

“I was happy with our balanced scoring attack, but even more impressed with three different guys having four or more assists each,” Otzelberger said.

The Cyclones, which beat Lucayans 119-48 on Sunday, will conclude its trio of games at Atlantis on Wednesday when it plays the Puerto Rico national team at 1 p.m.
