Injury Roundup: Week 13

Chet Gresham takes you through the fantasy-relevant injuries from Week 13

Week 13 had quite a few injuries, but the severity of most the injuries is still up in the air. We'll be updating every injury throughout the week, but below here is the inititial damage assessment.

Torrey Smith wasn’t in on the critical last possession of the game for the Ravens. They were going for the win, so you know something was wrong with him and after the game he was seen limping in the locker room. Both John Harbaugh and Smith declined to comment on the injury, but the Baltimore Sun expressed some concern. Hopefully we’ll learn more soon.

Andre Ellington suffered a hip pointer against the Falcons on Sunday and couldn’t return to the game. His body seems to be breaking down as the season wanes. He says he’ll be fine, but he easily could miss next week so be prepared to not have him. If he were to miss any time the Cardinals would probably go with some sort of a committee with Marion Grice, Michael Bush and Stepfan Taylor. That is not exciting.

Rashad Jennings injured his ankle and missed the Giants' two final drives. He claimed he's not worried about missing any time, but also admitted he wasn’t able to return to the game, which was highly in doubt at the time. If he can’t play next week Andre Williams would get a dream matchup against the Titans.

Justin Hunter suffered a lacerated spleen in the Titans' loss at Houston and will remain hospitalized overnight. He was seen coughing up blood after taking a hard hit. Thankfully, according to PFT, he won’t need surgery and the injury isn’t life threatening.

Zach Mettenberger has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 AC joint sprain in his right (throwing) shoulder. He told reporters he expects to play next week, but we hear that more often than not from the player himself, so he may not be able to play next week against the Giants.

Colts right cornerback Vontae Davis left the game against Washington with a concussion. When he is out the Colts pass defense gets a severe downgrade and with Josh Gordon coming up next week they will need him. He’ll be in the concussion protocol.

DeSean Jackson sustained a “fibula contusion” and was seen limping out of the locker room. This appears to be a severe bruise that kept him out of the game. They’ll see how he responds overnight before deciding if he’ll need an MRI. Andre Roberts would move into his position if he had to miss any time.

Miles Austin suffered a kidney injury and will spend the night at a Buffalo hospital. With Justin Hunter also suffering an internal injury this has been a bad week as far as hospital stays are concerned.

Aaron Dobson suffered a hamstring injury and was forced from the game against the Packers. Dobson continues to have trouble staying on the field when he gets a chance and this could end his season due to the lateness in the season.
