Injury Roundup: Week 12

Chet Gresham gives you all the pertinent fantasy football injury news from Week 12

Week 12 so far has been fairly clear of fantasy related injuries thankfully, but when large men slam into each other at full speed, well, their bodies don't always take it too well. So let's take a look at the damage.

Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett injured his right pectoral muscle in warmups on Sunday. He played through the injury and it showed as he completed less than 50% of his passes. He will have an MRI on Monday to assess if there is a tear or not. If there is he’ll be done for the season. Ryan Fitzpatrick could resume starting duties, but they may want to see what they have in Tom Savage, as they know what they have in Fitzpatrick and it isn’t pretty.

Marshawn Lynch missed two series in the first quarter due to a stomach ailment according to coach Pete Carroll, but it also appeared as if his back might have tightened up on him. He’s had back problems for a while now and has missed many practices. Robert Turbin should be rostered by Lynch fantasy owners at this critical point in the season.

Ryan Mathews went to the locker room with a shoulder injury after rushing for his 32-yard touchdown in the third quarter and ended up missing about 20 minutes before coming back in. You just have to take the good with the bad when it comes to Mathews and a big game coupled with him returning from his injury makes for a lot of good.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins left the game against the Bears with a back injury and didn’t return. No updates of his injury have been given as of this writing.

Cordarrelle Patterson suffered knee and ankle injuries in the Vikings' loss to the Packers. He brushed off the injuries so should be able to play next week, but until he can get the ball in space to show his open field ability, he will remain just a dynasty hold.

Cooper Helfet sprained his ankle during Sunday's win over the Cardinals. Helfet did catch a 20-yard touchdown that sealed the 19-3 win over the Cardinals in the fourth quarter, but went down and did not return after that. His status going forward isn't clear.
