IndyCar in Nashville: First race caution of Music City Grand Prix comes at Lap 12

Threats of severe rainstorms proved to be unfounded for Sunday's Music City Grand Prix, which finished without a hitch.

The IndyCar race on the streets of Nashville, which typically has its share of crashes and cautions on the 2.1-mile course in the shadows of Nissan Stadium, also was relatively quiet in those categories.

After 17 cautions during the first two years of the race, this year's incarnation had just three, including just one for a wreck.

The first yellow flag of the race occurred on Lap 12, when David Malukas lost the wing on his No. 18 car. the 21-year-old had been running in fifth place. The second came 58 laps later, on Lap 70, when rookie Linus Lundqvist introduced his front right tire to a concrete barrier and left his car to be carried off by a wrecker.

The first crash of the race was a pileup that included Felix Rosenqvist, Agustin Canapino and Benjamin Pedersen, and resulted every car being parked with five laps to go after a red flag.
