Indy Eleven name Sean McAuley coach

The Indy Eleven hired a coach with Major League Soccer and international experience.

The club named Sean McAuley, who finished the 2023 season as interim coach of the MLS' Minnesota franchise, as its fifth coach.

Indy Eleven finished the 2023 United Soccer League season with 13 wins, 10 draws and 11 losses. The team and Mark Lowry parted ways after his second year.

McAuley was a Minnesota assistant for four years. He also was an assistant for the MLS franchises in Portland and Orlando.

Before coming to the United States, he played for Manchester United in 1990 and also with clubs in the United States and Scotland. He started coaching in 2002.

"After an extensive search that produced an unparalleled number of talented candidates from around the world, including a pool from more than 25 countries, we believed Sean’s experience as both a coach and player at the highest levels of soccer in the United States and Europe made him the top choice to lead our club starting in 2024 and beyond," said Greg Stremlaw, President and CEO of Indy Eleven, in a news release.
