Indianapolis writer slams former Commanders QB Carson Wentz: ‘He’s plastic’
Carson Wentz didn’t last long with the Washington Commanders. After Washington traded two third-round picks and swapped second-round picks in 2022 for Wentz, the Commanders released Wentz in March.
All it took for Washington to realize Wentz wasn’t the guy was eight games and seven starts. On Wentz’s way out of Philly and Indy, anonymous sources painted Wentz in a negative light, but not for his play.
Those anonymous sources slammed Wentz’s character at his two previous stops, calling him selfish, a bad teammate, etc., but none of those alleged issues followed him to Washington.
Multiple times last season, respected teammates such as Jonathan Allen, Terry McLaurin and Taylor Heinicke all praised Wentz. Wentz and his wife hosted several Commanders for Thanksgiving dinner.
When Wentz was released last month, there were no anonymous sources attacking his character.
However, in an appearance on the “Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan this week, Indianapolis writer Gregg Doyel who has covered the Colts for years, was asked about Wentz.
Doyel didn’t hold back.
“I’m not stunned; I was on to him the moment I talked to him – I couldn’t stand him the moment I met him. He’s plastic,” Doyel said via Lou DiPietro of Audacy.com. “You can’t believe a word he says, and even if he says stuff that makes sense, you can’t believe he means it. He’s a robot.”
Wow. Not sure what Wentz did to Doyel.
Doyel was right about one thing. It would surprise no one if Wentz was done in the NFL.
