Indiana women’s basketball gets verbal commitment from 2025 guard Nevaeh Caffey

BLOOMINGTON — The Indiana women’s basketball team received a verbal commitment from Incarnate Word point guard Nevaeh Caffey on Saturday afternoon.

Caffey announced the decision on social media.

“I am extremely proud to announce that I have verbally committed to Indiana University to continue my basketball and academic career!!” Caffey posted, along with photos from her recent visit to Bloomington.

She listed Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Missouri and Michigan as schools she received scholarship offers from.

The 5-foot-10 guard plays for an Incarnate Word team that broke the Missouri state record for most consecutive wins (123 games), it’s also the longest active win streak in the country. The team came into the season having won six consecutive state titles.

Caffey led the team with 18 points in the record-setting win.

She joins a 2025 class for Indiana that also includes Maya Makalusky, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers. Makalusky verbally committed to the Hoosiers back in June.

Indiana didn’t sign a guard in the 2024 recruiting cycle. The team’s incoming class featured Faith Wiseman and Sydney Fenn.
