Indiana high school girls soccer: Indy-area's top forwards to watch in 2023

IndyStar is highlighting returning girls soccer players to watch by position before unveiling the 2023 preseason ALL-USA Super Team.

Today's position group: Forwards.

Ashlyn Anderson, Carmel

Anderson joins the Greyhounds for her sophomore season after missing 2022 due to national team commitments (she is a member of the US Soccer U16 National Youth team).

Breece Bass, Franklin Central

A senior Murray State commit, Bass finished with 18 goals and 10 assists for the 12-win Flashes.

Keira Bradford, Cathedral

Bradford tallied four goals and seven assists last season and is one of eight returning starters for Cathedral.

Dejanae Butler, Park Tudor

The third team all-state pick totaled 24 goals and 19 assists for the state champion Panthers. She has 45 goals and 38 assists through three varsity seasons. Her twin sister, Western Michigan commit Dominae Butler, is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Kya Crooke, Heritage Christian

After scoring 35 goals as a freshman, Crooke put up 22 as a sophomore, plus six assists. She will lead a new-look Eagles squad this season with fellow striker Abby Foulk playing club exclusively this fall.

Lyza DeShong, Pendleton Heights

DeShong scored a team-high 18 goals in her debut season as a freshman with five multi-goal games (two hat tricks). She also added six assists for the Arabians, who finished with nine wins.

Addison Duncan, Bishop Chatard

The senior forward logged nine goals and eight assists, including the game-winners against Cathedral in the City finals and Lawrenceburg in the regional championship. Her efforts propelled Chatard to an 18-3-1 finish.

Hailey Hoskins, Brownsburg

The Purdue Fort Wayne commit scored seven goals and registered five assists against a loaded schedule, leading the Bulldogs to their third consecutive sectional championship. She enters her senior season with 12 goals and 11 assists for her career.

Meg Jacklin, Zionsville

Jacklin appeared in 18 games as a sophomore, tallying nine goals and four assists, with 24 shots on goal (34 total). She logged 1,108 minutes.

Grace Leriger, Zionsville

The senior striker flourished in an expanded role last season, scoring seven goals and dishing out four assists over 1,168 minutes. She has nine goals and seven assists in two varsity seasons.

Josie Studley, Brebeuf Jesuit

Studley is looking to lead the Braves in scoring for a fourth consecutive season after logging 15 goals and seven assists as a junior. The first team all-state honoree has 40 goals and 28 assists for her career.

Meredith Tippner, Noblesville

Tippner scored 15 goals and added 10 assists for the state champions as a sophomore. She scored her first career hat trick against Crown Point at semistate, finishing with four goals and an assist.

Amya Usher, Cathedral

The Toledo commit and four-year varsity letter-winner netted five assists and a goal for the sectional champion Irish last season.
