HS Roundup: Tri-Valley rolls past Philo to advance

DRESDEN — Yuvi Bastola notched a hat trick and Sam Schott added two goals and an assist, as 11th seed Tri-Valley topped 15th seed Philo 8-1 in Saturday's Division II sectional boys soccer tournament contest at Kenny Wolford Park.

The Scotties advanced to face top seed John Glenn at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Gael Oseguera found Schott to get the Scotties on the board first, while Bastola scored the next three goals before Devin Watts and Schott added tallies for a 6-0 lead.

After the Electrics got on the board, McClellan and Hustey added goals to cap the scoring for Tri-Valley.

Circleville 2, Sheridan 1 (2OT): The Tigers scored with 56 seconds left in the second overtime to get past the Generals in sectional action.

Josiah Hamilton got Sheridan on the board first by scoring with six minutes left in the first half, while Circleville tied it at 1 with a goal with 14 minutes left in the second half.

Brady Bevis stopped a Circleville penalty kick in the first overtime to force a second overtime.

Zanesville 2, West Muskingum 1: Riley Needles and Connor Baldwin each scored, as the Blue Devils topped the Tornadoes in a regular season contest.

Zanesville heads to New Philadelphia to start tournament action at 6:30 Tuesday.

Girls Soccer

Circleville 3, Sheridan 0: The Generals fell in their final regular season game and head to Chillicothe Unioto to start the tournament at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Volleyball

Sheridan 25, 25, 25, Newark Catholic 22, 14, 22: Jamisyn Stinson tallied 15 kills and 13 digs and Alexis Bradley contributed 22 assists, 13 digs, two blocks and 15-of-15 serving as the Generals finished the regular season 18-4.

Alyssa Ward tallied nine kills, three digs and two blocks, Reagan Davis went 11-of-12 serving with an ace and 19 digs, Halle Warner made six blocks with four kills and 6-of-7 serving, and Ava Heller hit five kills in the win.

Sheridan reserves picked up 25-20, 25-16 victory behind 21 assists and six digs by Lily Talbot, seven digs, four kills, two aces and 12-of-12 serving from Addison Grosse and 11 digs, five kills, two aces and 7-of-7 serving by Madison Hupp, while the Sheridan freshmen won 17-25, 25-18, 25-23, as Ella Thomas had 11 assists, four digs, 16-of-16 serving and two aces.
