Hornets, Wildcats and Falcons have perfect weekend

The Mendon softball team welcomed in a pair of teams for single games on Saturday in a round robin invitational. The Hornets were supposed to play a third game against Quincy, but the weather forecast had other ideas.

Mendon won the first game, beating Cassopolis 3-0 in a tight game. The Hornets were the away team for the game and scored a single run in the second, third and fourth innings.

Rowan Allen pitched the Hornets to the victory in the game. She pitched all seven innings and did not allow a hit to the Rangers in the game. Allen also struck out 13 hitters and walked only two.

At the plate, Mendon recorded five hits. Both Abby and Ally Butler recorded one hit in the game. Jaydn Samson, Kaidee Gonser and Allen each had a base hit in the contest. Cienna Nightingale was credited with an RBI in the game.

Mendon beat Eau Claire 10-0 in the second game of the day.

Ally Butler pitched the Hornets to the win in the game, she struck out seven hitters and tossed a perfect game. She did not allow a hit or walk a batter.

Gonser drove in three runs with a base hit in the game.

Mattea Bingaman finished with two hits and three RBI, Allen clubbed a pair of hits as well. Ally Butler and Brielle Bailey each had a hit in the contest.

Mendon is now 15-3 on the season.

Three Rivers wins in Saginaw 

The Three Rivers softball team won all three games at the Saginaw Swan Valley invitational held on Saturday.

Three Rivers picked up wins over Saginaw Swan Valley 6-0, Mount Pleasant 6-3 and Saginaw Heritage 14-6.

In the opening win over Swan Valley, Ava Forman struck out five hitters.

Gabby Charvat led the offense, she belted a home run and drove in three runs. Charvat added another base hit in the game as well. Allie McGlothlen clubbed a pair of hits in the game.

Forman, Emily Ventrone and Dani Glass each registered a base hit in the game as well.

Three Rivers beat Mount Pleasant in the second game. Charvat collected a pair of hits in the game while Lanie Glass hit an RBI double. Forman and Mya Jones each had a hit as well, Forman drove in one.

Jennaya Decker and London Hoffmaster each hit a home run in the game.

Decker also picked up the win inside the circle, striking out six.

Three Rivers got three hits each from Lanie Glass and Forman in the final game. They combined to drive in one run each.

Decker hit another home run, a single and drove in four runs while Hoffmaster had two hits in the game and two RBI.

Peyton Ware hit a double, Ventrone had two hits and drove in two.

Ware picked up the win.

Constantine wins a pair 

The Constantine softball team won a pair of games this past weekend, beating Mancelona 2-1 and Johannesburg-Lewiston 5-2.

In the opener, Constantine trailed 1-0 entering the second at-bat. The Falcons then scored two runs in the second inning. Following that, neither team crossed the plate again.

Both Hallee Schieber and Kaitlyn Ross had two hits and one RBI in the game. Sienna Salisbury hit a double, both Olivia Herlein and Jocelyn Butler hit a single.

Ross picked up the win, striking out 14 hitters in six innings. She allowed just one hit.

In the second game, both Constantine and Lewiston scored two runs in the second inning. Constantine would plate two runs in the third and one more in the fourth.

Herlein finished with two hits in that second game. Butler had a base hit and drove in two runs, Salisbury finished with a base hit and one RBI. Ross and Olivia Ransbottom each had a hit in the game as well.

Ross pitched all six innings, striking out six hitters. She scattered seven hits but allowed only two earned runs.
