Hornets Reactions: Brooklyn throttles Charlotte in national TV showdown

The Hornets opened with their worst quarter of the season and never caught up in Brooklyn on Thursday, falling 111-89.

Charlotte came stumbling out of the gate in the first quarter while the Nets could hardly have played better. The result was the Hornets finishing 4-of-23 from the field and 1-of-10 in the opening frame and Brooklyn leading 32-11.

From there, the Hornets could never get back into the contest. The lead fluctuated between as much as 30 points and as little as 18 but Charlotte never truly challenged Brooklyn’s hold of the game.

Gordon Hayward and Devonte’ Graham each scored 13 points to lead the team in scoring.

The Good: Nothing

It was a terrible, awful, no good, very bad game. Nothing positive to take away from a night like Thursday, other than the fact the Hornets can get right back at it on Friday in Indiana.

The Bad: Malik Monk's injury

There's a lot of on-court, X's and O's types of things that could be pointed out tonight. However, the biggest negative that could come from this game could be the injury to Malik Monk in the fourth quarter. With the game already well out of out of hand, Monk drove to the basket and came down on a player's foot, badly twisting his ankle. After laying on the court for a few moments, Monk had to be carried off the court, unable to put weight on his foot. The Hornets are already down LaMelo Ball and losing Monk would be a massive blow in the playoff race.
