Homer, Haynesville could run past Glenbrook in Shreveport area District 1-1A race

Although Glenbrook graduated a passel of talent this past spring, all eyes will be on new coach Reagan Smith and company to see if last season’s 11-1 mark and an inaugural District 1-1A title was an anomaly or a precursor of things to come.

Former coach David Feaster left some young talent at the school, but it may not be enough to challenge in one of the toughest Class 1A districts in the state.

The Golden Tors and Pelicans are expected to go 1-2 in the league, based on voting by the coaches, and the title probably won’t be decided until they meet Nov. 3 in the regular season finale. Linebackers Alonzo Jackson of Haynesville, one of the state's fastest 100-meter sprinters, and Greg Williams will have a lot to say about what happens on that date.

Arcadia, which advanced to the LHSAA quarterfinals last season behind Dimitri Carr II is a wildcard in the district race. Ringgold and Magnolia Charter also welcome new coaches in Chris Reed and Bryan Smith respectively, while Plain Dealing will begin it’s second campaign under Clint Walker.
