BOYS BASKETBALL
Northeast 54, Annapolis 48: Sophomore Cameron Albury established a career-high with four 3-pointers in scoring 16 points as the Eagles defeated the Panthers for just the second time in program history.
Kai Butler brought a lot of energy in totaling 15 points, had 9 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists for Northeast. Shamarr Johnson pounded the glass to grab 12 rebounds and added 11 points. Nassim Kurban chipped in 9 points, 3 steals and 5 assists to the win.
Severn 49, Friends 34: Freshman forward Jacob Randall scored 12 points to lead the Admirals to a convincing MIAA B Conference victory. Junior forward Ryan Stewart added 10 points for Severn, which improved its record to 5-4.
Patterson Mill 74, North East 43: Kyle Luddy had 37 points and 24 rebounds to lead the host Huskies (5-0, 7-1) past the Indians (0-3, 0-7) in Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference Susquehanna Division play. Will Pape, 14, and Drew Pape, 11, also scored in double figures for the Huskies. Austin Keefer scored 23 points and Luke Keefer had 15 points for North East. Patterson Mill led 35-23 at the half.
Old Mill 75, Glen Burnie 72: Malcolm Day poured in 32 points and Jordan Penn contributed 16 as the Patriots (7-1) edged the Gophers. For Glen Burnie (6-4), Jordan Canoles collected 18 points to go with 15 rebounds, Lakee Pegram pitched in with 13 points and Greg Pittman scored 10.
Broadneck 55, Severna Park 46: Tromaine Jones produced a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, KheSean Porter added eight points and Josh Ehrlich chipped in with five points and six assists as the Bruins knocked off the Falcons. Anthony Rocetta delivered a game-high 21 points and Colton Adams added 10 points for Severna Park.
C. Milton Wright 76, Harford Tech 57: The Mustangs (4-1, 7-5) beat the host Cobras (1-3, 3-7) in Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference Chesapeake Division play. Jordan Stiemke and Rocco Polesovsky scored 21 points apiece for CMW. Polesovsky also had nine rebounds and four steals. Evan Buck, 19 points, led Tech, while Matayo McGraw added 15 and Eric Macharia scored 11.
Elkton 64, Bel Air 45: The visiting Elks (2-2, 5-2) defeated the Bobcats (0-3, 3-6) in a Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference Chesapeake Division game. Tre Dennis led the Bobcats with 11 points, while Jack Snyder netted nine. Elkton’s Jayden Tripplet led all scorers with 16 points.
Archbishop Spalding 78, Glenelg Country 64: Jordan Pennick poured in 27 points and Cam Whitmore followed with 25 as the Cavaliers took down the Dragons, bringing their record to 12-2. CJ Scott chipped in with 15 points for Spalding.
Fallston 56, Bo Manor 19: Dylan Wheeler had 11 points and four assists, while Dylan Kreis also scored 11 points to led the Cougars (2-1, 4-5) past the visiting Eagles (0-3, 1-8) in Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference Susquehanna Division play. Fallston dressed eight players due to injuries and COVID quarantines. All eight scored and the Cougars led 41-4 at halftime.
St. Paul’s 58, Annapolis Area Christian School 38: Jonathan Hardy scored 11 points and Nate Clinkscale and Chris Green each had three steals in a losing effort for the Eagles.
Loyola 56, McDonogh 29: Owen Fischer scored 17 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Dons (9-4, 4-4 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) past the host Eagles. Gavin Walsh had eight points and 12 rebounds for Loyola.
Francis Scott Key 69, Brunswick 64: The Eagles survived a furious comeback from Brunswick to improve to 6-3 on the season. Ryan Rill who knocked down four 3-pointers, scoring 29 points, while grabbing nine rebounds to lead the Eagles. Logan Milstreed backed him with 13 points and four assists. The Railroaders (1-7) were led by Ethan Genos with 26 points and 10 rebounds.
Liberty 68, Westminster 46: Liberty jumped out to a quick 17-7 lead, escalating it to 20 by halftime. As a team, Liberty (9-2, 4-1) hit 13 3-pointers on the night. Shane Stewart led the scoring with 18 points while dishing out seven assists. Tyler Downs added 15 points. Liam Long led the Owls with 15 points. Billy Hyatt-Otovic pulled down seven rebounds and Everett Costley chipped in nine points.
Meade 91, North County 48: Xavion Roberson posted a game-high 21 points and dished off five assists, and Bryson Spruell added 16 points to lead a quartet of Mustangs in double figures in their win over the Knights. Shawn Jones (15 points, 12 rebounds) and John Teague (13 points, 12 rebounds) each had double-doubles for Meade, which won its sixth game in a row to improve to 7-1.
Aberdeen 72, Edgewood 47: Tylan Bass scored 18 points to lead Eagles (7-2, 5-0) past the visiting Rams (3-5, 2-2) in Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference Chesapeake Division play. Tyseaun Rodgers added 16 points and Donovan Peyton had 13 points and five assists.
Arundel 63, Crofton 36: Karris Scott scored 15 points and Azim Sana had 11 points as the Wildcats handled the Cardinals. Messiah Anderson chipped in 10 points and Noah Frayer posted nine points for Arundel.
Centennial 54, Oakland Mills 34: Adrien Nyom had 11 points and Ty Beck-Winter had 10 to lead the Eagles past the host Scorpions. Centennial went on a 17-11 run in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Marriotts Ridge 53, Glenelg 52: The Mustangs outscored the Gladiators 16-13 in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Kaden Bryan finished with a game-high 28 points, including 16 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. Oliver Trawick led the Gladiators with 17 points.
Wilde Lake 67, Mt. Hebron 43: The Wildecats outscored the Vikings 21-8 in the third quarter as Nathan Hiteshew scored 13 of his team-high 22 points during the period. Kain Corkeron added 16 points for Wilde Lake.
River Hill 59, Howard 50: The Hawks showcased offensive balance to pick up their first win of the season. Brandon Tookes led River Hill with 13 points, while Levi Lawal scored 11 and Demetre Koutras added 10.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
South River 53, Southern 10: Calen Norton finished with 10 points, four rebounds and three steals, while Hannah Swaninger totaled 10 points as the Seahawks defeated the Bulldogs. Leila Townsend contributed nine points and four steals, while Ryleigh Adams provided eight points, 10 rebounds and three steals for South River. Kate Seymour delivered 15 points and four rebounds, while Isabella Wooster had 10 points and eight rebounds for Southern.
Northeast 50, Annapolis 20: The Fox sisters led the way for the Eagles. Julia Fox posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Hannah Fox scored 8 points and hauled down 22 rebounds.
DD Colbert contributed 8 points and 15 rebounds, while Vanessa Tomshack chipped in 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Caitlyn Cornwell added 5 points, 6 rebounds with 6 assistst to the win.
Arundel 56, Crofton 34: Heather Middleton tallied 28 points, seven rebounds, eight steals and an assist and Nyla Laniyonu added 13 points, eight rebounds, five steals and an assist to lead the Wildcats to the victory over the Cardinals. Cora Shafer, Lily Maher and Vanessa Carmichael all scored 10 points for Crofton.
Century 52, South Carroll 35: Century improved to 9-1 behind Mia Graff’s 20 points, 14 rebounds and four steals. Eva Brandt pulled down 15 rebounds to go with nine points. Erin Mellendick and Harli Hamlett each scored six, while Mackenzie Mowder added five.
Westminster 58, Liberty 53: Balanced scoring for Westminster secured a win in a tightly-contested game. Westminster was lead by Julianna Lesher with 12 points and five rebounds. Kylie McWilliams and Abby Kindle each added 10 points. Kirsten Whitehead chipped in nine points, while Carlie Rosewag finished with eight points, seven rebounds and three steals. Jess Littlejohn lead Liberty with a game high 23 points.
Manchester Valley 53, Winters Mill 30: Junior Carmaya Bowman scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Mavericks improved to 10-1. Senior Kyrsten Lucas added 11 points, while freshman Emma Penczek scored eight. Sophomores Autumn Stottlemire and Molly Smith each tallied five points.
Francis Scott Key 52, Brunswick 40: A balanced attack offensively and stifling defense led the Eagles to a road victory. Ally Mathias scored 15 points to go with seven rebounds for FSK. Rayna Miller and Carolone Kohr each had nine points and three steals with Kohr also grabbing three rebounds. Drew Watkins chipped in eight points and five rebounds.
Meade 56, North County 17: Meade raced out to a 26-3 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
Indian Creek 47, Catholic 24: Abbey Bunker scored 12 points and sister Molly Bunker added 11 points to allow the Eagles to overcome a slow offensive start with its pressure defense to defeat the Cubs. Indian Creek took a commanding lead of 37-18 by the end of the third quarter. Abbey Bunker and Avery Barnhill led the defensive charge combining for 15 steals. Peyton Frisby added nine points.
Roland Park 59, St. John’s Catholic Prep 48: Freshman Erin Miller had 20 points and 21 rebounds to lead the Reds (5-2, 1-1 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference) past the Vikings (3-4, 0-2). Freshman Kelis Fisher had 16 points and eight rebounds for Roland Park, which led 24-16 at the half.
Marriotts Ridge 55, Glenelg 49: Talia Trotter led the Mustangs with 21 points, as Hope Hettinger added eight points and Jaden Washington chipped in seven. The Gladiators were led by Lauren LaPointe with 21 points.
Hammond 48, Reservoir 41: Nia Green scored eight of her team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter as the Golden Bears earned their second victory of the season. Hammond outscored Reservoir 14-10 in the final quarter to secure the victory.
Mt. Hebron 36, Wilde Lake 31: In a low-scoring defensive battle, the Vikings improved to 5-0 on the year led by guard Rae Vidal. Vidal finished with 10 points while senior guard Erin Dixon added six points. Claire Zimmerman spearheaded the Wildecats with 10 points.
Mercy 60, Gerstell 58: Two teams, undefeated in IAAM B2 teams, faced off Friday. Mercy took a 12 point lead after three quarters and held off Gerstell’s final rally. Eniyah Stinnette led Gerstell with 15 points, Kylie Redman added 12 and Lauryn Wargo scored 11.
SWIMMING
Severn boys 97, Archbishop Curley 66: Senior Jack Keith won the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, while teaming with senior Tristan Collins, and juniors Ben Keith and Harlen Erskine to win the 200 Medley Relay, as the Admirals defeated the Friars. The team of Collins, senior Ryan Countryman, junior Hayden Gargagliano and freshman Timmy Wright placed first in the 400 Freestyle Relay for Severn.
Severn girls 105, St. Paul’s 61: Senior Lana Cate (200 medley relay, 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, 400 freestyle relay) and sophomore Aliza Monaldo (200 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay) each won four events as the Admirals handled the Gators.
Senior Sarah Gershman touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke and was part of the winning medley relay team, while freshman Kenzie Getz was on both the winning medley and 400 freestyle relay teams. Junior Erin Hooper swam in the winning 400 freestyle relay for Severn.
