Here's a roundup of high school varsity action on Friday, Feb. 2.
Girls basketball
Mount de Sales 42, Garrison Forest 25: Shelby Lewis scored 24 points and led the host Sailors (17-4, 7-2 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference) over the Grizzlies (2-9, 1-8) for their ninth straight win.
South River 74, Arundel 10: The visiting Seahawks beat the Wildcats. South River was led by Adriana Kane (14 points), Skylar Woodyard (12 points) and Ksenya Dittrich (12 points).
Chesapeake-AA 42, Old Mill 27: The visiting Cougars (11-5) beat the Patriots. Maggie Lawrence had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Kasey Slade had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Chesapeake. Brittany Poole had seven points for Old Mill.
Centennial 45, Wilde Lake 21: Adria Welsh scored 21 points to lead the Eagles in the win.
Southern 54, Annapolis 47: Ava Wooster had 26 points and 13 rebounds to lead the host Bulldogs over the Panthers. Mackenzie Fuller scored 20 points for Annapolis. A ceremony was held after the game honoring Wooster for scoring 1,000 career points. Southern will host Western Tech on Monday and Annapolis will host Arundel on Friday.
Loch Raven 54, Franklin 31: The visiting Raiders beat the Indians. On Wednesday, Loch Raven will host Parkville and Franklin travels to Kenwood.
Western Tech 58, Carver A&T 50, OT: The visiting Wolverines outlasted the Wildcats. Carver A&T hosts Owings Mills on Monday.
Broadneck 47, Severna Park 41: Samantha Miller had 12 points and Mackenzie Miller had 11 to lead the visiting Bruins over the Falcons. Broadneck held off a second-half rally to win.
Manchester Valley 46, Century 40: Harli Hamlett had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Ragena Edwards scored 12 points, but the visiting Knights (8-7) fell to the Mavericks.
Reservoir 48, Marriotts Ridge 12: The host Gators beat the Mustangs. For Reservoir, both Nia George and Jasmin Shelton had 12 points. Marriotts Ridge was led by Lamees Bazzi with six points and freshman Peyton Albert with five.
Oakland Mills 47, Mt. Hebron 30: Destiny Macharia scored 20 points to lead the Scorpions over the Vikings. Adey Alexander also delivered a spark with 14 second-half points. For Mt. Hebron, Maddie Casto had nine points.
Hammond 53, Glenelg 25: Nia Green dominated for the Golden Beats with 24 points, five steals and four blocks. Sara Yarnell complemented that effort with 18 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks. For Glenelg, Maria Garbis had six points.
Pikesville 84, Sparrows Point 30: Samira Hawkins scored 19 points, Bree Taylor added 18 and Mariah Jones-Bey chipped in 13 to lead the host Panthers over the Pointers.
Howard 46, Long Reach 17: Oluwadamilola Daniel, Riley Watson and Allie Masterson each had 11 points to lead the Lions in the win. Jaiden Bryant had 10 points for Long Reach.
Gerstell 51, Severn 25: The visiting Falcons (12-7, 9-0 IAAM B Conference) took an early 21-3 lead and beat the Admirals (12-7, 3-5). Miley Alguire scored 14 points and Eniyah Stinnette had 12 for Gerstell.
Indian Creek 71, Park 47: Malinda Morgan scored 19 points to lead the visiting Eagles (14-5, 10-0 IAAM C Conference) over the Bruins (8-4, 8-8). Other top scorers for Indian Creek included Stephanie Bunker (18 points), Norah Young (11) and Elia Alewine (10).
St. Mary's 74, Archbishop Spalding 60: Bailey Harris scored a game-high 31 points and Baily Walden had 21 to lead the host Saints (18-7, 9-5 IAAM A Conference) over the Cavaliers (8-11, 3-11) for their fourth straight win.
Boys basketball
North Harford 44, North East 32: The host Hawks beat the Indians. North Harford travels to Fallston on Tuesday.
Loch Raven 49, Franklin 48: The host Raiders beat the Indians. Franklin will host Pikesville on Monday, and Loch Raven will travel to Parkville on Wednesday.
Annapolis 63, Southern 45: Darion Carter scored a game-high 20 points and Raphael Calvery had 18 to lead the visiting Panthers over the Bulldogs. Brian Griffin scored 15 points and Davis Kess had 14 for Southern.
Joppatowne 70, Fallston 52: Kishann Smith scored a game-high 19 points and Damian Brooks and Phil Clark each scored 10 to lead the host Mariners over the Cougars. Oliver Schamburg had 13 points and Max Ruekert added 12 for Fallston. Joppatowne led 39-15 in the first half.
Havre de Grace 61, Patterson Mill 55: Cameron Ball scored a game-high 22 points to lead the visiting Warriors over the Huskies. James Hammond scored 19 points for Patterson Mill. Havre de Grace went on a 17-11 run in the second quarter to pull ahead.
Westminster 54, Francis Scott Key 51: Jah Donald made two free throws with less than 20 seconds left to play and the host Owls hung on to win. Westminster used tough defense to hold off the Eagles' rally in the second half. Will Mollman led the Owls with 16 points, Tanek Zitta had 11 and Donald had seven points and 12 rebounds. F.S. Key was led by Jordan Fulmore with 14 points and Tyler Hanson had 11.
Wilde Lake 59, Centennial 54: Noah Brazil had 18 points to lead the Wildecats in the win, wile Josiah Hyson added 16. For Centennial, Josh Frazier had a game-high 22 points, while Drew Dreisch chipped in 12.
Hammond 55, Glenelg 45: The Golden Bears defeated the Gladiators. For Glenelg, Ty Jenkins had 16 points.
Mt. Hebron 85, Oakland Mills 38: The Vikings exploded for a season-high number of points in county play as Julian Kelly had 12 points and Phil Prasartkarnka added 10.
Glen Burnie 63 North County 41: Davon Mcleod had 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead the visiting Gophers (10-7) over the Knights. Other leading scorers for Glen Burnie included Greg Pittman (11 points) and Braedon Buchanan (10).
Long Reach 74, Howard 67: Junior Nunez led the way for the Lightning with 23 points. RJ Barnes added 16, Dillon McKinney had 14 and Jayden Saunders added 12.
Northeast 80, Crofton 60: The host Eagles beat the Cardinals. Cam Winston had 17 points for Crofton.
Meade 78, Chesapeake Science Point 55: Ashton Truman scored 18 points and Lucaya Baldrige had 10 to lead the host Mustangs (12-4) over the Tigers. Meade bounced back from Wednesday's loss to Broadneck and travels to Annapolis Area Christian on Saturday at noon.
Mount Saint Joseph 57, Archbishop Spalding 48: The host Gaels (24-2, 11-1 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference Black Division) won their sixth straight. The Cavaliers (14-7, 9-3) suffered a loss after upending top-ranked St. Frances, 67-64, on Wednesday. On Monday, Mount Saint Joseph hosts St. Maria Goretti and Spalding hosts McDonogh.
Calvert Hall 59, Gilman 55: The host Cardinals (13-15) beat the Greyhounds (7-10). It's the third straight win for Calvert Hall and third straight loss to Gilman. Calvert Hall hosts Mount Carmel on Sunday and Gilman travels to Glenelg Country on Saturday.
Annapolis Area Christian 68, St. Mary's 66, 2OT: Xavier Johnson scored eight of his 12 points in overtime as the visiting Eagles (9-10, 6-5 MIAA B Conference Black Division) beat the Saints (9-14, 6-5) for their fourth straight win. Eli Croskey scored 28 points and Art Sheehan had 19 for AACS.
Wrestling
Chesapeake-AA 38, Old Mill 19: The host Cougars beat the Patriots and claimed the Anne Arundel County championship. Brayden Roberts (120 pounds), Jackson Worley (126), Owen Collins (138), Ethan Mills (144), Phillip Ramsey (150), Matthew Curtin (165), Keanu Furbush (175) and Gavin Lewis (190) picked up wins for Chesapeake, while Michael Greenstreet (132) and Xander Dodd (215) recorded pins.
Manchester Valley 47, C. Milton Wright 32: Kyle Reid (106), Dakota Barnard (120), Beau Snell (132), Bradyn VanDerVoort (138), Camden Yowell (144), Kameron Reid (150) and Cru Boog (215) all recorded pins for the Mavericks in the victory. The Mustangs' Kane Desch (113) recorded a pin for his 100th career victory.
Edgewood 66, Bohemia Manor 17: The host Rams beat the Eagles. Edgewood got pins from Cody Galbreath (120), Shane Tressler (165), and Miles Putney (285).
