High School Sports: Addison, Madison, LCS volleyball claim league titles

The volleyball regular season is coming to a close and three Lenawee County teams clinched league championships on Tuesday.

Addison won a share of the Cascades Conference title for the first time on Tuesday, beating Homer in four sets, 23-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-19. The Panthers last won a league title in 1987 as part of the LCAA.

Molly Brown had 24 kills and 18 digs, making her the single-season record holder in kills in program history.

Laci Patterson had 12 kills, eight digs and four aces while Izzy Durkee had nine kills and seven digs. Lexi Patterson had 44 assists and 10 digs and Kate Huston had 13 digs.

Madison concluded its undefeated LCAA season to win an eighth-straight league title, including the previous seven TCC titles.

The Trojans defeated Onsted (25-21, 11-25, 15-13), Clinton (25-19, 25-13) and Dundee (25-21, 25-21). Tatum Wilson had 20 kills and six blocks, Elizabeth Hacker had 14 kills, Caylan Sower had 28 digs and five aces and Veronica Flores had 22 digs.

Hudson fell to Hillsdale (22-25, 25-19, 15-8), Ida (25-13, 25-22) and Onsted (25-15, 25-15). Jozlyn Weber had 32 digs and three aces while Naika Rath had six kills and nine blocks.

The Tigers then traveled to the Onsted quad on Wednesday, when they lost to the host Wildcats (25-20, 25-12), Concord (25-14, 25-17) and Jonesville (25-4, 25-23). Rath had 14 blocks and seven kills while Weber had 25 digs.

Lenawee Christian has taken over the TCC after Madison's departure, as the Cougars finished an unbeaten league season against Summerfield, 25-21, 27-25, 25-16.

LCS took on Parma Western and Coldwater in Coldwater, where it beat the hosts, 25-13, 24-26, 25-14, 25-22 and then Western in the Cougars' first five-set match, 28-26, 25-23, 19-25, 22-25, 15-8.

Sand Creek defeated Whiteford at home in a TCC match, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19, 25-19.

Zoe Rorick had seven kills, seven blocks, seven digs and four aces while Maddie Osburn had 17 digs, eight assists, three kills, two aces and one block. Hailey Bennett had 20 digs and an ace while Scout Robinson had 16 digs and two aces and Carley Allen had seven assists, four digs, three kills, two blocks and an ace.

The Aggies then beat Summerfield on the road in three TCC sets on Thursday, 25-15, 25-15, 25-21.

Rorick had six kills, 2.5 blocks, two digs and two aces while Osburn had nine digs, three assists, 2.5 blocks and two aces and Allen had eight digs, six assists, three aces and two kills. Lainey Johnston had six blocks, Bennett had 12 digs, Jalyn Snyder had eight digs and Emma Maxwell had six blocks.

Adrian lost an SEC crossover against Saline, 25-11, 25-16, 25-20 with Ella Salenbien getting 12 digs, three kills and two aces, Lauren Fraser getting four kills and Liv McKenzie recording 15 assists, nine digs and two aces.

Adrian concluded the regular season on Wednesday, dropping a pair of matches at Coldwater against Parma Western, 21-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-14 and Bronson, 25-14, 25-19, 25-23.

Salenbien had 17 kills and 25 digs, Fraser had 13 kills and four blocks, Halei Lefever had 11 kills and 15 digs and Liv McKenzie had 43 assists.

Tecumseh lost at home in an SEC crossover against Temperance Bedford, 25-17, 25-14, 25-19.

Emma Eldred had seven kills, two blocks and two aces while Lily Hammond had 18 digs, Ashlee Frazzini had 13 digs and Chloe Bullinger had 10 digs.

Tecumseh wrapped up the regular season Thursday with a sweep against Ann Arbor Pioneer, 25-18, 25-10, 25-20.

Eldred had 12 kills, Alli Zajac had six, Ashlee Frazzini had eight digs and four aces and Lily Hammond had 18 assists, eight digs and six kills.

Britton Deerfield lost to Pittsford in three sets on the road, 25-21, 25-13, 25-16.

Alayna Salenbien had eight digs and four assists, Alivia Salenbien had three kills and three assists, McKenzy Spaulding and Victoria Fraley each had seven digs, Elloisa Guzman had three kills and Kyra Nighswander had two aces.

Morenci lost in four sets at Erie Mason to end the regular season, 24-26, 25-20, 25-19, 25-14.

Alyssa Gibbs had 13 kills while Addyson Valentine had nine with 14 digs. Evelyn Joughin had 17 assists, 16 digs, three kills and an ace while Kianna Castillo had 24 digs and Loryn Frederick had 14 assists and 10 digs.

Girls Swimming

Adrian defeated Temperance Bedford at home Thursday, 117-69.

Ella Salenbien, Emma Pino and Eleanora Andre each won two individual events with Salenbien winning the 50 freestyle (25.28) and 100 freestyle (56.53) while Pino took the 200 freestyle (2:06.62) and 100 butterfly (1:03.76) and Andre won the 200 IM (2:23.57) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.43).

Haylee Vore won the 1-meter diving event (190.6) and Alexis Fox won the 500 freestyle (6:04.61). Salenbien and Andre were joined by Madison Betz and Allison Marks to win the 200 medley relay (1:59.14) while Pino, Betz, Fox and Salenbien won the 200 freestyle relay (1:49.15) and the team of Pino, Marks, Fox and Andre won the 400 freestyle relay (4:06.23).

In Jackson. Tecumseh lost to Lincoln (100-42), Saline (152-20) and Jackson (133-33).

Cross Country

On Monday, Sand Creek hosted the annual Al Constable Invite, where both the boys and girls Aggies won their meets. The Sand Creek boys had 23 points to beat Jackson Prep's 32. The girls posted 15 points and were the only full team in the race.

Silas Daniels won the boys race at 18:31.2 while Nicholas Trame was third (19:25.1) and Josh Russell was fourth (19:34.5). Tre Fluker was seventh (19:55.7) and Caleb Johnson was eighth (19:59.6). Payton Steinke won the girls race (23:02.4) and was followed by Victoria Williams (24:46.6) and Dannyell Grimes (25:11.9).
