High school softball: Vote for the Varsity 845 player of the week (April 8-14)
Online voting for the Varsity 845 softball player of the week for April 8-14 is now open. Go to RecordOnline.com/sports and vote as often as you like until 11 p.m. on Saturday (no computer bot voting, please).
Nominations are pulled from reports to Varsity 845 and other sources. Players from Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties, plus Delaware Valley (Pa.) are eligible. Only one nomination per school is permitted each week. This week the poll is split into large- and small schools.

Avery Ogden, Pine Bush
Her two-hit, six-strikeout effort led the Bushmen to an 11-0 win over Middletown on Wednesday – she added two hits.
Valerie Pedersen, Monroe-Woodbury
She fanned 11 as the Crusaders beat Warwick 7-2 on Monday. On Wednesday, she struck out nine, adding four hits and two RBI in a 7-0 win over Kingston.
Alyssa Platero, Middletown
Her two-run home run lifted the Bears over Kingston 6-3 on Tuesday.

Alyssa Sarlo, Warwick
She was a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish, with an RBI, as the Wildcats won at Minisink Valley 7-3 on Tuesday. On Thursday she had three singles and two RBI in a 13-1 win over Monticello.
Brooke Schaeffer, Goshen
She rapped three singles, two doubles and drove in five runs as the Gladiators beat Chester 13-0 on Wednesday.
Emily Smith, Minisink Valley
Her one-hit, 12-strikeout effort pushed the Warriors past Washingtonville 12-0 in a shortened game on Monday.

Jenna Carmody, Tri-Valley
A busy day resulted in a two-hit victory, 12 strikeouts, plus a triple and three runs as the Bears nipped Eldred 5-4 on Tuesday. The next day Carmody combined on a no-hitter against Livingston Manor, adding two hits and four RBI.
Ayla Chaluisan, Chester
She struck out 10 batters and added two doubles and three RBI as the Hambletonians beat Sullivan West 10-2 on Tuesday.
Alexa Pavese, Highland
She struck out 13 batters as the Huskies beat Ellenville 4-2 on Tuesday. The next day she had six punchouts in a 5-1 win over New Paltz.
Emma Spanjer, Chapel Field
She struck out 12 batters and added four hits and four RBI as Chapel Field nipped Burke Catholic 19-15 on Thursday.
Angie Wheeler, Liberty
She struck out 10 batters and added two hits and two runs as Liberty rolled to a 7-3 win over Monticello on Tuesday. The next day she tossed a no-hitter, fanning 10, adding two hits and three runs in a 16-1 win over Fallsburg.
