High school notebook: Eastern announces latest hall of fame class

The Lansing Eastern Athletic Hall of Fame will induct five individuals during a ceremony later this month.

Tyler Allen, Adam Ivory, Camryn Jackson, Christina Pscodna and Michael Woods will be formally inducted at 4:45 p.m. Sept. 29 in a ceremony at Don Johnson Fieldhouse. They will be introduced during halftime of Eastern’s football game against Mason.

Allen was a football and track standout who went on to play football at Eastern Michigan. The 2011 graduate set individual track school records in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

Ivory, a 1997 graduate, was an all-league performer in football, basketball and baseball.

Jackson was a standout wrestler for the Quakers who went on to wrestle at the University of Michigan. He was the state champion at 135 pounds as a senior in 2011.

A 1986 graduate, Pscodna was a volleyball and softball standout. She went on to play softball at Calvin College where she was the MIAA batting champion in 1988.

Woods earned all-state honors in football and basketball and set the high hurdles record in track. The 1977 graduate went on to play football and basketball at Grand Valley.

Grand Ledge junior lacrosse standout Tieson Cooper has made a verbal commitment to play at the University of Michigan. He announced his commitment on Instagram over the weekend.

Cooper contributed to the Comets capturing league and regional championships in the spring. As a freshman, the attacker was named second team all-state by the Michigan High School Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Trio honored by MHSCA

A trio of area coaches have been recognized by the Michigan High School Coaches Association as the 2023 coach of the year in their respective sports.

Jamie Kline of Holt-Mason gymnastics, Haslett-Williamston lacrosse’s Chad Pastor and Jon Thelen of Pewamo-Westphalia volleyball were named award winners.

Thelen guided P-W to its first volleyball state title in program history last fall. Pastor led Haslett-Williamston to a historic season that included the school’s first girls lacrosse state semifinal appearance.
