High School Football: Week 6 stretches three days in Lenawee County

The Week 6 slate of high school football in Lenawee County was split up into three days with Addison moving to Thursday due to available officials while Morenci traveled north Friday to play Saturday at Indian River Inland Lakes.

FRIDAY

Lenawee Christian 73, Mendon 20

ADRIAN — Mendon came into the game ranked in the top five in the latest Associated Press poll but the Cougars won going away.

Sam Lutz rushed for four touchdowns while Paul Towler and Easton Boggs caught two touchdowns each as the Cougars dismantled Mendon.

Lutz scored on TD runs of 22, 8, 43 and 10 yards. Brenner Powers added a 63-yard touchdown run and Jesse Miller also scored a rushing touchdown for 6-0 LCS.

Adrian 22, Jackson 9 

ADRIAN — Jackson led 9-7 at halftime, but the Maples came out in the second half and put the game away with two scores.

Sean Parker threw the go-ahead touchdown to Isaiah Fox in the third quarter, then completed a touchdown pass to Thomas DeKeyser in the fourth quarter. He threw a touchdown pass to Chase Henline in the first half.

Parker finished with 159 yards and three touchdowns through the air. Henline had 85 yards rushing to lead the Maples (5-1, 3-1 SEC White).

Adrian can get a share of the SEC White with a win against Pinckney next week paired with Jackson upset of Chelsea.

Hudson 14, Blissfield 0 

BLISSFIELD — Two big plays on offense and a stellar defense propelled Hudson to a shutout win on the road.

The Tigers (6-0, 4-0 LCAA) got a 71-yard touchdown run by Beckett McCaskey with 27 seconds left in the first half and scored on a 78-yard touchdown pass to Brennan Marshall early in the fourth quarter.

The defense did the rest, shutout out Blissfield (3-3, 2-2 LCAA) and holding the Royals to just 220 yards of offense.

Clinton 54, Dundee 33

CLINTON — This game was one neither team will certainly forget as the Redwolves beat the Vikings in LCAA play.

Clinton (5-1, 4-0 LCAA) led 30-6 with 1:17 left in the second when the lights went out at Wegner Stadium. The teams eventually went into an early halftime and after the lights came back on and Clinton did its' homecoming, the teams finished the 1:17 and then went right into the third quarter.

The Vikings scored to make it 30-14 and stopped the Redwolves to finally end the first half. Dundee drove inside the Clinton 10-yard line with a chance to get within a score, but turned it over on downs.

The Redwolves drove down and scored on a Cole Breitenwischer 2-yard run, his second of four scores, and Dundee never got back into the game.

Nik Shadley rushed for 143 yards and a score, Jacob Felts went for 133 and a score and Breitenwischer ran for 111 yards while Joey Preston added 57 and a score.

Sand Creek 38, Summerfield 34 

SAND CREEK — The Aggies halted a four-game losing skid by coming back in the fourth quarter to beat Summerfield.

Summerfield led 28-16 at halftime. The Aggies pulled within 28-24 on a 1-yard run by Ivan Wilkinson in the third quarter, then went ahead on a 61-yard pass from Cole Scharer to Caleb Luck. Wilkinson’s 55-yard touchdown run with 4:52 to play sealed the victory.

Jordan Illenden rushed for 137 yards and Wilkinson 107 for the Aggies (2-4, 1-1 TCC). Scharer had 92 yards passing.

Chelsea 42, Tecumseh 20

TECUMSEH — AJ Bryan rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 93 yards and another score, but it wasn't enough for Tecumseh to knock off Chelsa in SEC White play.

Tecumseh (2-4, 1-3 SEC White) trailed 21-0 at the half and 28-0 in the third before Bryan scored on a run and a reception inside of Chelsea's 10-yard line to make it 28-12, but it was as close as Tecumseh would get. Ben Abbott was 14-of-25 passing for 187 yards and a touchdown.

The Bulldogs clinched at least a share of the SEC White title and will take it outright with a win against Jackson next week.

Ida 36, Onsted 13 

ONSTED —The Bluestreaks handed Onsted its fifth loss of the season behind a huge night running the ball.

Ida had 422 yards on the ground, including 266 yards and two touchdowns by Dean Thomas. The Wildcats are 1-5 and 0-4 in the LCAA.

Hunter Kelley passed for 271 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while Quinn Hiram caught 13 passes for 132 yards while JT Hill hauled in eight for 71 yards.

Hillsdale 54, Madison 36  

HILLSDALE — The Trojans had their biggest offensive output of the season but couldn’t stop Hillsdale.

The Hornets scored in every quarter and turned a 20-18 lead into a 40-24 lead through three quarters.

Brian Dopp ran for two touchdowns and threw for two for the Trojans (1-5, 1-3 LCAA). He had 272 yards passing and 60 yards rushing. His touchdown passes were 50 yards to Jayden Holly and 48 yards to Mile Frank.

Nathanael Decker had two touchdowns for Madison.

Maple Valey 56, Britton Deerfield 6 

BRITTON — Vermontville Maple Valley clinched the Tri-River 8 Conference championship with the victory.

BD (2-4, 1-2 Tri-River) was held to a 2-yard touchdown run by Caden Freeman in the third quarter. BD had 149 yards of total offense and turned the ball over four times.

Freeman led BD with 74 yards rushing.

THURSDAY

Addison 54, Homer 20

ADDISON — Spencer Brown rushed for 122 yards and scored four touchdowns and Jaxen Sword threw for three touchdowns as Addison rolled to its sixth win in a row.

Sword threw two touchdown passes to Byron Creech and one to Brown, who added three rushing touchdowns. Brown has rushed for at least 100 yards five-straight games.

Addison had 328 yards rushing and 87 yards passing as a team.

Sword completed four of his five passes. The Panthers (6-0, 3-0 Cascades West) also got 84 yards rushing from Mike Trumble, 61 yards and a rushing touchdown Creech and 45 yards from Sword.

Addison’s defense had two fumble recoveries and an interception.

The game was played Thursday due to a lack of available officials Friday.
