High school football recaps: Norton stays perfect, Wadsworth rolls, Walsh bounces back

Norton 48, Cloverleaf 12

Zach Bowman threw three touchdown passes and Buddy Willig scored three touchdowns Friday night to lead the visiting Panthers (8-0, 5-0) to a win over the Colts (3-5, 1-4) in a Metro Athletic Conference game.

Norton's offense continues to be high-scoring and its defense remains stout under coach Glen Kruger.

Bowman threw two TD passes to Willig and one to Thomas Hoffman. Willig also added a rushing TD.

Buddy's older brother, Noah Willig, added one touchdown run and Lucas Dobbins ran for two TDs.

Wadsworth 49, Stow 7

Quarterback Will Stack ran for 182 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries, and completed 11 of 14 passes for 109 yards to guide the host Grizzlies (7-1, 5-0) past the Bulldogs (1-7, 1-3) and Wadsworth clinched a share of the a Suburban League National Conference for the first time since 2019.

Wadsworth's Nathan Metzger, Tyler Probst, Kyle Figuray and Cooper Gray also each ran for a TD.

CVCA 39, Northwest 16

Logan Scranton ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries to lead the host Royals (6-2, 4-1) past PAC-7 foe Northwest (5-3, 4-1).

CVCA's Charley Levak and Ricky Levak each ran for a TD, Dillon Webb returned a punt 52 yards for a TD and Dirk Geiger tackled a Northwest ballcarrier in the end zone for a safety. Charley Levak and Joey Kopec converted two-point conversion runs and Calvin Warren made 3 of 3 extra points.

Northwest's Connor Satterfield ran for 163 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries.

Firestone 28, North 0

Four different players scored a touchdown to lead the Falcons (4-4, 2-1) past the Vikings (1-7, 0-3) in a City Series game at Ellet.

Cupid Atkins returned a fumble 68 yards for a touchdown, Daniel Peterson ran for a 1-yard TD, Daylyn Taylor threw a 22-yard TD pass to Joseph Reed and Dionte Younger contributed a 45-yard TD run.

Taylor also converted two two-point conversion passes, one apiece to Brandon Foster and Gucci Stephens.

Tallmadge 48, Cuyahoga Falls 7

The visiting Blue Devils (3-5, 2-3) got a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Braydon Sturm and rushing scores from Ricky Maclean, TJ Mosko, Logan Miles and Keagan Gilbride to roll to a Suburban League American Conference victory over the Black Tigers (2-6, 0-5).

Caleb Riefsnyder caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Loveless to account for the other Tallmadge score.

Noah Robinson had a sack, two tackles for loss and five quarterback hurries. Sturm and Gilbride each had an interception.

Cuyahoga Falls QB Joey Earl threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Dominick Willig.

Highland 56, Revere 20

Quarterback Peyton Janickas ran for a touchdown and 122 yards on 12 carries, and completed 5 of 7 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns to power the visiting Hornets (7-1, 5-0 SLAC) past the Minutemen (3-5, 1-4).

Highland's Matt Ciryak and Evan Grant caught the TD passes from Janickas. Grant added two rushing TDs, Kallen Whitling and Dylan Lazar each had one TD run, Johnny Siliko returned a kickoff 95 yards for a TD and Carson Kwiatkowski made 8 of 8 PATs.

Walsh Jesuit 34, Notre-Dame Cathedral Latin 0

The host Warriors (7-1, 1-0) bounced back in a big way after their first loss and opened Crown Conference play with a statement win over the Lions (4-4, 0-1).

Lucas Weaver ran for 119 yards and scored two touchdowns on 11 carries. Keller Moten was 13-of-21 passing for 117 yards and a touchdown to Owen Feliciano. He also ran the ball six times for 42 yards and a score.

John Keough keyed Walsh's defense with two interceptions.

Twinsburg 31, North Royalton 28

Aiden Stuczynski is making a habit of this scoring thing.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound senior ran for 170 yards and four touchdowns to lift host Twinsburg (4-4, 2-2 SLNC) to a win over the Bears (1-7, 0-4), who have lost seven straight.

Tyler Seegert’s 25-yard field goal put the Tigers up 17 with 8:36 left, but touchdown passes to Mannix Wasco and Luke Koprowski made Twinsburg sweat things out.

Mogadore 47, Southeast 6

The host Wildcats (6-2, 2-0) took one step closer to league title No. 45 with a Portage Trail Conference win over the Pirates (6-2, 1-1).

Zeke Cameron (5-of-7 passing, 96 yards, 2 TDs) threw both of his touchdown passes to Corey Lehner (2 catches, 54 yards). Austin Constantine (5 carries, 22 yards), Aaron Rumschlag (4, 18) and Lehner (3, 34) each had a rushing touchdown. Mogadore's defense limited Case Myers to just 22 yards rushing and one catch for 39 yards.

Ravenna 48, Springfield 0

Austin Marshall scored on seven of his 15 carries as Ravenna (3-5, 3-2) posted its third consecutive win with a shutout at Springfield. Marshall tallied 240 yards rushing and scored in each quarter. His longest running TD was a 61-yard carry in the third quarter that put the Ravens up 27-0.

Ravenna ran the ball 29 times for 331 yards and held the Spartans (0-8, 0-5) to minus-25 yards rushing and just 57 total yards.

Harvest Prep 20, St. Vincent-St. Mary 13

Dezmond Porter had a 78-yard rushing touchdown and returned a fumble 41 yards for another score to help put the host Warriors (7-1) up 20-6 at the break in Canal Winchester.

Daniel Ajose had a 46-yard touchdown reception from Rylan Hurley to keep the Irish (4-4) from being shut out in the first half.

Hurley made things interesting with a 21-yard TD run in the third quarter, but the Irish lost third third straight game.

Triway 24, Manchester 21

Caleb Youngman scored on an 8-yard touchdown run to gave the Panthers (1-7, 1-4) an eight-point lead at the break, but the host Titans (3-5, 2-3) shut out Manchester in the second half and stormed back for a Principals Athletic Conference win.

Triway kicked a 31-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to draw within five, and Brody Flinner caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from Brayden Hold to stave off the Panthers' upset bid.
