These high school athletes are racking up accolades and hitting milestones this spring

What makes a milestone?

Is it a start to a journey? A finish? Maybe a moment in a time — somewhere in between — used to stop and take a second to celebrate a success?

Whatever the definition, there have been many milestone moments across the high school sports scene this spring. And the Daily News would like to recognize them.

Whether it be 100 or 200 career points or goals in lacrosse, or even 500 career saves, 100 straight coaching wins in league play or 100 career wins overall, or even a no-hitter in baseball, athletes and coaches across the MetroWest and Milford area have provided plenty of watershed moments.

So without further ado, let’s look at some of those milestones:

Jansen Brown/Aidan Sweeney, Lincoln-Sudbury baseball

Milestone: Combined no-hitter in win over Newton South on April 28.

“It feels great to be a part of this accomplishment and help our team (get) back to playing how we know we can.”

Aidan Sweeney

Kaitlyn Carney, Franklin girls lacrosse

Milestone: 200 career points surpassed in win over Mansfield on April 26.

Tim Connors, Ashland boys lacrosse

Milestone: 100 career points surpassed in win over Norton on April 26.

Emily Croteau, Milford girls lacrosse

Milestone: 100 career points reached in game against Norwood on April 13.

Lucy Davis, Lincoln-Sudbury girls lacrosse

Milestone: 100 career points hit during victory over Bedford on April 29.

Luke Davis, Franklin boys lacrosse

Milestone: 300 career points topped in win over Bishop Feehan on April 25.

Patrick Dwinnells, Ashland boys lacrosse

Milestone: 100 career points reached in season-opener against Holliston on March 31.

“Hitting the 100-point mark really meant a lot to me. It has been a goal of mine since I joined the varsity team and when I was finally able to achieve that goal it was extremely rewarding to know the work I have put in has paid off.”

Patrick Dwinnells

Jess Garcia, Framingham girls lacrosse

Milestone: 100 career goals eclipsed in win over Arlington on April 3.

Kristin Igoe Guarino, Franklin girls lacrosse

Milestone: 100 straight wins in the Hockomock League after victory over Canton on April 10.

“All the credit goes to the players, past and present, who have helped build the culture that is Franklin lacrosse. We are able to find success year after year and get to 100 Hock wins because of how hard the girls work and how competitive they play.”

Kristin Igoe Guarino

Emily Hayward, Hopkinton girls lacrosse

Milestone: 100 career points topped in win over Dedham on April 26.

Hannah Lawrence, Natick girls lacrosse

Milestone: 500 career saves surpassed in win over Milton on April 27.

“It means a lot to me to meet this milestone! I have been playing goalie since I was 10 and I don’t think I could ever imagine accomplishing this as a junior. I have worked hard on-and-off the field for the past 11 years of my life, surrounded by my amazing teammates and coaches who helped me along the way. I am looking forward to trying to make more saves and continuing to work hard for the rest of high school years at Natick and my college career at Merrimack College.”

Hannah Lawrence

Fallon Lozano, Nipmuc girls lacrosse

Milestone: 100 career goals reached in win over Hopedale on April 5.

Anna Magennis, Ashland girls lacrosse

Milestone: 100 career goals garnered in win over Norton on April 26.

Jackson Mastroianni, Blackstone Valley Tech boys lacrosse

Milestone: 100 career goals eclipsed in win over Assabet on April 13.

Katie Peterson, Franklin girls lacrosse

Milestone: 100 career goals reached in win over North Attleboro on April 25.

Tyler Sacchetti, Franklin boys lacrosse

Milestone: 200 career points surpassed in win over Milford on May 1.

Matt Wentworth, Lincoln-Sudbury baseball

Milestone: 100 career coaching wins marked by victory over BC High on April 3.

“The 100 wins is less about what I’ve done over the past eight years and more of a testament to the amazing players and their families, the dedicated coaches I've worked with and the continued support of L-S youth baseball, all of which makes coaching here really special.”

Matt Wentworth

Ava Wilde, Algonquin girls lacrosse

Milestone: 200 career points eclipsed with win over Westborough on April 13.

Katie Wolin, Lincoln-Sudbury girls lacrosse

Milestone: 100 career points hit in win over Cambridge Rindge & Latin on April 11.
