Here are the High Desert teams still alive in the CIF-SS basketball and soccer playoffs

The CIF-Southern Section basketball and soccer playoffs are in full swing, and there are seven local programs that have made a run to the quarterfinals.

Hesperia is the lone boys basketball team that is still alive in title contention. The Scorpions are back in action Tuesday night, for a third-straight playoff game at home.

The Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy boys soccer team also has a game on Tuesday in Division 7 action. But that is a second-round game, with the entire division's quarterfinals set for Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday, there are six girls quarterfinals on the local slate of games.

Here's a look at each of those playoffs games, starting with the two contests set for Tuesday night.

Division 3AA Boys Basketball Quarterfinals

Hesperia vs. Camarillo

Game Notes: The Scorpions enter the matchup with a 22-8 record, and are ranked No. 4 in the Division 3AA coaches poll, while Camarillo is 20-10 and ranked No. 12. … Hesperia is on a six-game winning streak and has won 15 of the last 16 games. … In two playoff games, Camarillo has outscored opponents 116 to 69. Hesperia has scored 139 points in both its playoff games, and allowed 47 points in each game. … If the Scorpions advance to the semifinals, they will be on the road against either La Habra or Sage Hill.

Division 7 Boys Soccer Second Round

Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy vs. Hawthorne MSA

Game Notes: The second-round game will be held at Silverado High School. … The Cougars are led by Adrian Gonzales, who has scored 24 goals on the season. They enter with a 13-7 record, and according to MaxPreps.com, are ranked No. 6 within Division 7. MaxPreps has the Aviators (12-3-1) ranked ninth in the division. But according to the CIF-SS Division 7 coaches poll, the Aviators are No. 6. … If the Cougars advance to the quarterfinals on Thursday, they will be home against Desert Hot Springs or on the road against Buckley.

Division 3AA Girls Basketball Quarterfinals

Silverado vs. Oak Park

Game Notes: The Hawks, led by Elizabeth Udeze's 23.2 points per game, enter with a 19-7 record, while Oak Park is at 17-7 and on a 16-game winning streak. … Oak Park is the No. 1 seed in the division, while the Hawks are No. 8. … If the Hawks advance to the semifinals, they will be home against Saugus, or on the road against Torrance.

Division 3AA Girls Basketball Quarterfinals

Oak Hills vs. Cerritos

Game Notes: The Bulldogs enter with a 21-8 record and have won five games in a row. Cerritos is 21-9 and is on a nine-game winning streak. … Oak Hills enters as the favorite, ranked No. 7 in the Division 3AA coaches poll, while Cerritos is No. 15. … If victorious, Oak Hills will be on the road in the semifinals against Anaheim or Cantwell Sacred Heart.

Division 4A Girls Basketball Quarterfinals

Hesperia Christian at Whittier Christian

Game Notes: Hesperia Christian is currently on a 12-game winning streak and is 21-4 on the season. … Whittier Christian enters the quarterfinals at 20-8 and tied for the No. 1 ranking in the Division 4A coaches poll. … If victorious, Hesperia Christian will be on the road against Eastside or Ramona.

Division 5AA Girls Basketball Quarterfinals

Adelanto vs. Loara

Game Notes: This is the first postseason run the Saints’ program has experienced. The Saints had never won a playoff game prior to this season. … The Saints are 17-9 and ranked No. 4 in the Division 5AA coaches poll. Loara, which is 20-8, is right behind at No. 5. … With a victory, Adelanto will be home against Savanna or on the road against Elsinore in the semifinals.

Division 3 Girls Soccer Quarterfinals

Apple Valley at Don Lugo

Game Notes: The Sun Devils are on a roll, and appear poised to continue this playoff run as the No. 2 seed in the division. Apple Valley is currently 18-3-1, and has allowed 17 goals on the season. The Sun Devils, led by freshman Jadyn Bechtel’s 29 goals, are currently ranked 90th in the state, according to MaxPreps.com. Don Lugo enters the quarterfinals against Apple Valley ranked 224th in the state. … If the Sun Devils are victorious, they will be home for the semifinals against Warren or Palm Desert.

Division 5 Girls Soccer Quarterfinals

Adelanto vs. Campbell Hall

Game Notes: Adelanto is 6-11-2, with two of those victories coming in the playoffs. The Saints are up against Campbell Hall, the No. 2 ranked team in the Division 5 coaches poll, and is ranked 143rd best in the state, according to MaxPreps.com. Adelanto checks in at 751st best in the state. … Campbell Hall has allowed 14 goals this season through 15 games. … The two programs met in the 2019 playoffs, with Campbell Hall winning via penalty kick. … If the Saints pull off the victory, they will be on the road in the semifinals against San Marino or Garden Grove.
