'He's an absolute idiot': Andretti Autosport teammates tangle in IndyCar race at Mid-Ohio

It was teammate on teammate crime at Mid-Ohio.

Andretti Autosport teammates Alexander Rossi and Romain Grosjean jostled for position late in Sunday's race at Lexington, Ohio. On Lap 60, the pair ran off track.

The Frenchman was furious with Rossi.

"He's an absolute idiot. Sorry," Grosjean told reporters shortly after the race.

The interview was interrupted when an Andretti team official notified Grosjean that a team meeting was called.

Rossi, the 2016 Indianapolis 500 winner, is in his final season with Andretti. He will join Arrow McLaren SP in 2023.

Post-race, Rossi called the contact "just a racing incident" and said the fact that he's changing teams played no factor.

Grosjean pushed another Andretti teammate, Colton Herta, off the track soon after the restart. Also, Rossi and Devlin DeFrancesco — also with Andretti — made contact, with DeFrancesco briefly leaving the track.

Among Andretti drivers, Herta finished 15th, DeFrancesco 17, Rossi 19th and Grosjean 21st.
