Here's how to watch Missouri softball in SEC Softball Tournament championship vs. Florida

Mizzou coach Larissa Anderson was clear before the tournament began: Missouri softball was heading south with a title in mind.

Well, the Tigers have a chance to do just that.

No. 5-seeded Mizzou will face No. 2 Florida in the SEC Softball Tournament championship on Saturday in Auburn, Alabama. The Tigers walked off No. 8-seeded LSU with a Maddie Gallagher sacrifice fly in the eighth inning on Friday evening, hours after taking down No. 4 Arkansas in the weather-delayed quarterfinals. Florida beat No. 3 seed Texas A&M 7-3 later Friday evening.

Now, Missouri has a chance to do something no other Tigers team has done since the university joined the SEC in 2012: Take home a conference championship.

There’s been some close calls in the past 12 years.

There was Missouri football in 2012 and 2013, when the Tigers won the SEC East but lost in the title game.

Missouri volleyball won regular-season titles in 2013 and 2016, but volleyball does not have a conference tournament or championship game.

And softball has been to the title game twice, both losses. The Tigers most recently made the championship in 2022, when Mizzou lost 4-0 against Arkansas.

“Everyone’s goal is to win,” Anderson told local media over Zoom on Tuesday afternoon. “You don’t play at this level to not win. Holding up that trophy would be an experience that Mizzou would love, that our program would love. It would be a first SEC championship, so we’re going out to try to win a title. That’s what we’re trying to do, and at the same time we’re building our (regional) résumé.”

Mizzou is likely a lock to host an NCAA Regional. The Tigers have seemingly played their way into hosting an NCAA Super Regional.

Before that, will there be a championship?
