Head of the Class: West Boylston's Cole McCubrey highlights several top performances from local college football stars
Bentley graduate linebacker Cole McCubrey of Boylston was named Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year. McCubrey, who starred at West Boylston High and transferred to Bentley from UMass, ranked third in the conference with 81 tackles and was a playmaker while leading the Falcons to an NCAA Division 2 playoff berth.
Assumption senior running back Khaleed Exum-Strong was named Northeast-10 Conference Most Valuable Player. Exum-Strong rushed for more than 1,200 yards and scored nine touchdowns.
Framingham State freshman guard Bryan Lawton of Maynard was named MASCAC Offensive Lineman of the Year. Lawton helped the Rams average 30.6 points and 405 yards per game.
