Hawks’ Dejounte Murray believes Atlanta’s second half vs. Boston Celtics a model to build on

The Atlanta Hawks made it look their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2023 NBA Playoffs would be a short one in the first half of Game 1, the Celtics pushing their lead as high as 32 points in the storied franchise’s 112-99 home victory on Saturday night.

But in the second half, the Hawks nearly made a game of things by walking the lead down to 12 points. Not quite striking distance, but something Atlanta guard Dejounte Murray felt his team could build on moving forward. “Obviously, that’s a talented team,” apprised Murray of the Celtics via Heavy’s Adam Taylor.

“They shot the ball well; that’s what they do. They shoot the ball really well,” he added.

“Tonight, we didn’t shoot the ball the way we want to, but at the end of the day, I think you turn you turn a negative into a positive, and the positive is how we finished that game competing from the third and fourth quarter.”
